Doesn't this Moss situation seem strikingly similar to what happened with Branch? Instead of being proactive and locking this thing down, we are reacting to what other teams may offer Moss. The only difference is we had a lot more leverage in DB's case because a team had to sacrifice a 1st round pick. I think BB and SP deserve all of the credit in the world for what they've built here, but I think one of their weaknesses is holding out on new deals for too long.
If we do not get this Moss thing worked out, can anybody honestly say we won't be taking a huge step backwards next year. Does anybody honestly think Wes is going to be the same type of player he was this year w/out Moss stretching defenses? That goes for the rest of the O as well.
Obviously, every day that goes by, the odds of sigining impact free agents goes down. Minus making a couple impact trades and having a tremendous draft, I don't see how we are not going to take a huge step back next year.
Take a look at the available free agents. How many of these guys won't be a huge step down from the guys we've already lost?
