This is starting to piss me off. They're giving up draft picks left and right. Trade them for picks next year if you don't like anyone this year.

It was mentioned the pick was "conditional" in this thread at least three times. Perhaps a definition of what conditional means might ease your obvious concerns over seventh round draft picks.

The Center for the Jets claimed that Ted Washington was close to 400 pounds, but he also had a unique style where he would release off his block and quickly shift laterally with the running play so he wouldn't get caught off balance.

Remember, "close" doesn't necessarily mean under.

Still, just the thought of gambling an ultra valuable 7th round pick!....I'm just furious.

How will the Jets, Browns, Broncos and Chiefs fill out their rosters if we don't have 7th round picks to cut?

Tres Bien :D:D

There's always room at the bottom of the roster. Perhaps Sands will stick as a backup NT, perhaps not.

I think that this might say a bit about Brace. If he were ready to step in now, I don't think we'd be signing NT's. For me, this is not a negative on Brace. It is certainly fine for a rookie to take a year to transition to the NFL. My hope was and is that Brace will be valuable in the short yardage defense in the playoffs. Perhaps Sands can do this now, or is a backup for that role now.

BTW, wasn't Wright also injured? I know that Wilfork was injured.

Wright was dinged near the end of the game, but he was available to the media after the game, I believe, so I doubt it's serious. Game may have been in hand when he went down.

I may be mistaken but I dont recall Wilfork playing a whole heck of a lot in the early part of the 04 season either but certainly comming on at the end. I recall Traylor, Sey, Warren, Green playing a ton of 3-4.

I think it's more of an indictment on Wright. When discussing how the Wilfork injury occured, he said that he was double teamed, could not hold his ground and was pushed into Wilfork. Wright is on the smaller side weight-wise- (295). Maybe BB wanted a little more size? Don't get me wrong. I think Wright is a decent backup. But full time? Doesn't have the size but plays with great leverage and technique (stays low, get his hands out front.)

Brace will be fine. He had some good moments in preseason. He'll be ok. Hes just not ready.

Played all 16 games, started 6.

I'm with ya on the games and starts. doesnt mean he played a ton early in the season though.

Yeah, I know. I'm just saying I don't know that Brace has played yet at all this year. That said, the NFL stat of games-played may not necessarily mean he played, but was active. Not sure.

According to Reiss, Brace did play 6 snaps vs the NYJ. Zero for Buff and zero for Atl.

In his rookie 2004 season with the Patriots, he had two sacks, 42 tackles, and three deflected passes. No question he played a ton. Just wish when!!

Bill, in an interview, said they would still like to work with P. Burgess.

Practice squad signing, perhaps?

Man. Terdell Sands scares the crap out of me.

From Chris Price's twitter:

Just part of a group of reporters who interviewed Terrell Sands. Said Ted Washington told him about playing in NE.

BTW, Sands is an immense human being.

If Julian Edelman's nickname is "Mini Me", I herebye nominate Terdell Sands to be nicknamed "Fat Bastard". :D

Terdell Sands is sooooo fat, that......

(Come on, who's with me?)

OK. And I hereby nominate YOU to be the one to tell him ... :D

According to "Fat Bastard" in the latest from Reiss:
saying he is 6-foot-8. He wears a size 15 shoe and now weighs 355 pounds.

And it seems like the timing of the signing is encouraging from the Wilfork injury perspective!
He worked out for the Patriots late last week, and was told after the workout that the team wanted to sign him...So Sands's arrival wasn't necessarily tied to Vince Wilfork's left ankle injury, but it should help regardless.
