Probably a big time long shot, but is there any chance the fans (or at least season ticket holders?) could win a defamation lawsuit vs ESPN?

What would it cost?

This would be impossible because the media has too much protection in this country. This protection was/is a good thing until the last 10-20 years where the media has blatantly decided to abandon ethical reporting and blur the lines of columns and opinion pieces.

They can say whatever they want without repercussion and so they do.

Why even bother. ESPN/NFL has been lying and making things up for years. I don't watch ESPN because they are just as corrupt as the NFL, and obviously love to get Pat's haters (including themselves) in an uproar with false info and propaganda. Just read some of the replies to the story. They are all in an uproar because they are misinformed. In the ESPN/NFL world, Pats are cheaters for 15 years, in the informed world, the league's team (Jets) have more punished infractions (albeit they get punished very lightly even on repeat infractions) than the Pats. It'll never change. ESPN will lie about the Pats until they are no longer good. I hope they lie about them for the next 30 years :)

Stop talking about Bill O'Reilly

No way in hell. A fan's suit for defamation is basically a third or fourth degree harm with a triple bankshot. There is no standing for a fan to legitimately claim that s/he was materially injured by a report. It would get dismissed within seconds of a judge looking at the file.

Stop talking about Bill O'Reilly
Lol Bill is far from the only one who does this. All the news stations do it. It's sad that TMZ and deadspin are actually two of the most factual news sites.

Yes, it would be absurd. This stuff is frustrating but unless the people high up at Patriot Place do something (Kraft, in particular) this will continue to happen.

Cutting ESPN is the only realistic thing Pats fans can do.

Yes, I am shocked that "news" corporations run as for-profit businesses would have an agenda that isn't just reporting news.

There's worse things in life than ESPN reports, and one of those worse things is jailing people for badspeak.

I think you have to realize these stories aren't a huge deal. The media has very little credibility as it is. Look a Donald Trump (I'm no fan), but he is popular because the media hates him. And everyone hates the media.

They have lost so much credibility that they now have the opposite effect. Their apoplectic cries actually help those they denounce.

Figure it out, Bob. The NFL and other owners are conducting a systematic and coordinated campaign of slander against your franchise, with the active cooperation of ESPN. Most of the rest of the media will shamelessly go along with it.

You need to figure out how to fight back effectively. That means more than just issuing a statement you shuld have issued eight years ago.

Find some effing lawyers and get creative.

And create some consequences for Goodell and the league. You're one of the guys deciding Goodell's compensation. You have the ability to change your mind and try to get your Deflategate picks back. You, Brady, McNally and Donito Dink have the have enough evidence to file defamation lawsuits against the league and ESPN.

Maybe most importantly, you control Gillette stadium and WILL HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY ON THURSDAY TO USE IT TO MAKE YOUR CASE IN FRONT OF A NATIONAL AUDIENCE.

Get your head out of your ass and get creative!

For god's sake, FIGHT!

The only legitimate reasons for ever watching ESPN if you're a Patsfan:

-You're in a bar/airport/or otherwise captive audience;
-there's a game on;
-you're a practicing masochist.

If he complains too much, the other billionaires might not (pretend) be his friends any anymore! He can't have that.
So true. No more Hamptons invitations. Oh the pain!

Bob needs to fight. What he doesn't realize is that there will come a time soon when Brady/BB retire and this enormous success will be impossible to match and Kraft will just be another owner.
