Tebow A Pat (wild speculation) Mod edit

Last time i checked we didnt need or want a full time fullback.

Thats the only position on this team Teblow would fit.

Even if Belichick and McDaniels decided that they could make good use of him as a player, the inevitable media circus would have to make them think long and hard about whether his value was worth it.

The media BS would be a negative. That I do agree. Kraft might love that however.

He would fit a number of positions actually.

The best player others want that I don't want on this team is Moss.

I think people are missing the point:

Tebow only wants to play QB. He won't sign just to play FB or TE.

Brady is not coming off the field for some gimmick "quarterback". Ever.

End of discussion.

He would be good to great in a few areas...fullback, wildcat qb, 3rd down runningback, sub linebacker, sub safety, blocking tight end, possibly a backup wide out, etc.

BB loves the player that can do more things than one. BB loves Tebow.

Why not? He won't be taking Brady's sopt, that would be obvious.
Nice Punk'd job Ashton. I almost fell for it.

The main thing to consider though is getting him onto the 46 player gameday roster. Yes, he's capable of being a "Slash" type player but does he do anything so well that he's worth that active spot? He can be a FB, yes, but better than a pure FB?

He would need to be a core special teamer. Every unit, not just the protector on punt formations. If we re-sign Woodhead, he, Ridley and Vereen are locks to be active every game. There will be no less than 3 TEs. We want to see the team draft a WR, maybe 2. Do you want those guys de-activated in favor of Tebow?

It's not just about finding a spot on the 53. It's about finding a spot on the 46. I don't see a spot, I don't see what he does that's worth it over a pure FB or pure TE or pure WR. And hell no on him being the backup QB if we happen to trade Mallett.

Re: Tebow A Pat

Not sure why people are being this way about the thread. It's not like OP is saying to bring Tebow in as the starting QB or even as backup QB. If you look at Tebow as an all around football player he has the ability to do a number of things for at team. He has great size, good athletic ability and leadership qualities. He could be used in goal line situation, as an H-Back, TE and even WR.

The issue Tebow has always had is teams attempting to use him as a QB instead of just letting him be a role player who can add dimensions.

I'd have no issue with us signing him to a low priced contact to be a role player end of roster offensive player and emergency 3rd QB.

*cough* Dan Klecko

Fullback: don't use em
Wildcat QB: why take the ball out of the hands of Brady and run a gimmick that doesn't work?
3rd down back: Vereen, Woodhead & Demps both suit the role much better
LB/S?: and take the spot of a real LB/S?
TE: Gronk, Hernandez, Fells, Ballard, Hooman...yeah no point.

He would be a complete and utter waste of a roster spot - which can be used by a player of actual use and a couple of million on the cap, which again, could be used to actually improve the team, not on a gimmick player whos time in the league is nearing its end.

This post really sums it up best.

Lock the thread.

I'd rather see the team resign Chad Johnson.....As a CB

...than see them sign Tebow.

I wouldn't be completely opposed. He's got NFL athleticism, runs with power, and works hard. They can find ways to get him snaps without necessarily taking the ball out of Brady's hands.

So how opposed would you be? ;)

Good to great? Are you kididng me?

He can't play any of those positions mediocrely, much less good to great.

BB loves the player that can do more things than one. BB loves Tebow.
No BB loves good players who can contribute. Naming a whole bunch of positions that he has never played (including defense ) and pretneding he could play them doesn't make a guy who can play.

Why not? He won't be taking Brady's sopt, that would be obvious.
Why not? Because he isn't good enough to make our team?
Because his off the field agenda makes him a distraction taking away more from the team than he adds?

Throw all this Wildcat crap out, we're not getting Tebow to play LB or some gimmicky position.

The only possible way I'd see Tebow here is as a backup if Mallett's traded. He could possibly actually be a decent backup QB. Say what you want about his arm, but you must admit he can deliver late in the game, and we're a team who's always in it at the end of the game.

I've never heard him say that. I always heard him say he was a "football player".

Tebow is a poor WR, a below average running back, a bad TE and as a QB couldn't even beat out Mark Sanchez's backup.

I love Tebow as a person but, like almost every GM out there, don't really see where he fits on an NFL team. I certainly don't see him as a fit on the Patriots which maximizes players physical strengths (don't see any for Tebow).

Re: Tebow A Pat

There are college rugby and basketball players getting chances to play TE and college defensive linemen getting the chance to play fullback. I think Tebow deserves a chance to change positions, whether it's in NE or not.

Re: Tebow A Pat

I would accept Tim Tebow with open arms! He's got a heart the size of Texas

I just threw up in my mouth.
