6th answer down.

Please remember

1.) that there are 168 days left before the 1st NFL regular season game.

2.) the Pats have about 30 roster spots to fill before training camp starts.

3.) the Pats have about $17 to $18 million in cap space to use up before they enter the season with an injury reserve.

exactly

i checked out that sixth answer, thats exactly what were doing
im not worried at all, just feelin a lil anxious, but we'll be fine

On the D Line we have 3 starters and Green who could start.
We could have OFFERRED McGinest decent $$$ on a year by year basis to be a backup. The man made 10 sacks last year.
Sorry but not offerring was bad business.
The cap increased by about 1/6th.
All deals and values should also be adjusted by this amount.
It is called a market.
We can develope new WRs to replace Givens.
Adam could not accept that his production declined last year.
I think we will still field a great team in 06.

ABSOLUTELY A GREAT POST!!! I do not think many understand any of the 3...must be reminded constantly of it...thanks for posting that...

The Pats tried for weeks right after the end of the season to work out an extension with McGinest. The sides couldn't come to an agreement.
The Pats kept in regular contact with McGinest after they cut him.

How is that bad business?

Honestly I wasn't aware of that.
Just what McGinest said about no contact.

His answer to the last question about wide receivers is pretty good, too.

I think all of that is known, though I wasn't aware there are ONLY 168 days till kickoff. That's pretty sweet. We're right under the 6 month hump!

That said, my big question going into this off-season knowing we were going to lose some nice players is can we replace most or all of the guys we have lost with players that are as good or better?

If we can't I have trouble seeing how we will be better in 06 than we were in 2005. Seems like the basic premise of off-season aquisitions, cuts, etc. is to get better. But as you said, there is still a lot of time left, even though the FA pool gets a little thinner each day.
