    As per rotoworld.com

Free agent Aaron Schobel told the Houston Chronicle Monday morning that he's officially retired and won't be playing for the Texans.

Schobel told the Chronicle two weeks ago that he wanted to play for the Texans because they were just an hour from his home. Now he says he's tired of dieting to get down to 240 pounds, and he wants to eat and weigh 270. "I'm done with it," Schobel said, prepared to walk away from millions of dollars.

    One less OLB/DE to target.

Good luck to him if he thinks he'll live a long happy life at 6'3" and 270+ lbs. He apparently has all the money he can use, but last I heard you still can't buy your way out of a heart attack.

Well, best of luck to him anyway. Glad he's out of the division one way or the other.

Good for him for owning it, although I don't doubt his market value not approaching what he walked away from in Buffalo might have had a little something to do with his decision.

Belichick is a proponent of the once a guy starts talking about retiring he's already mentally checked out school of thinking. I think that's why the report that Burgess was contemplating it struck a nerve here and why Burgess felt the need to address it and his level of committment this season - because he likely had to convince Bill on both scores before he was reinstated that he wasn't in fact in the process of checking out and it wasn't just another paycheck that was drawing him back in.

    One down,one to go

Now if only Jason Taylor would decide to retire,Brady's 2 nightmare DEs will have eased his nerves.

Junior wasn't contemplating retirement when he got cut and nobody picked him up. He still wanted to play. After that he basically made himself available only to Bill on an as needed basis.

Freeney is 30 +/-1 year. No big deal. By next year, Vollmer will be the LT with 2 years experience and it's not going to matter who the opposition lines up. :D

We will see if Light can hold Taylor up and away from Brady when the two teams meet this year,Light has had problems with this guy before.

I suggest that the mods change the title of this thread to "Ex-Frog Picks Pork Over Pats"

IMO this is one myth that has perpetuated to far. Light did struggle with Taylor, Schobel, and other Speed rushers a little bit early in his career when coincidentally these guys were in their primes (probably even over blown then too). But I think Light has gotten much better at that and is on par with anyone in the league when it comes to handling some of the premiere pass rushers (which is to say they all struggle at times and need some help from TEs and backs). To me where some of the elite tackles seperate from Light is in run blocking not that he is bad but there are some huge road graters out there.
