For all the criticism people in here have thrown at Rex for his comments, he knows exactly what he is doing. He makes these types of statements to put all the pressure on him and take it off his players.
His strategy works like a charm. No one is talking about Sanchez-Tebow, no one is talking about the Jets' inept defense, their weaknesses, or how poorly they've played prior to Indianapolis.
It's his way of manipulating the media, nothing more and nothing less.
You give Rex too much credit. If he was trying to manipulate the media to take pressure off his team, he would do it when the Jets lose and Sanchez looks like complete hot garbage not when the Jets have their most impressive win of the season. He needed to take pressure off his team after they got totally blown out by the 49ers, not after he spanked the lowly Colts.
I am sure that if the Pats blow out the Jets 45-3 again and Sanchez throws 4 picks, Rex won't be saying anything remotely controversial to the media about their upcoming game with the Dolphins. Rex only talks tough after wins when the pressure is lower on his players.
Where was the tough talk two weeks ago when the QB controversy was in full swing, they just lost Revis and Holmes, and everyone was talking about how talentless the Jets were? That is when the Rex needed to step up and take pressure off his team. Not now when there is some semblance of optimism among the Jets fans.
