Correct.
Why are the Patriots "scrapping at the bottom of the pot" for CBs ?
Has it come down to this?
Their price tags were reasonable, and not outrageous.
Jason McCourty pleaseI'd offer up Mayo and a 2nd for a good corner.
Nope!

No interceptions and only 4 passes defensed last season.
I would say that 3 years @ $16 million a year is not "reasonable" when Sherman signed for $14 million a year. It is quite "outrageous" actually. $2 million a year more than the next highest paid CB in the NFL. You'd have to be nuts to pay that.
Brown: below average starting CB
Fletcher: awful starting CB
McClain: nothing special depth CB
I'm a fan of our current CBs more than any of them.
Why don't you research the statistics provided by Rotoworld and then draw your own conclusions about a cornerback in decline?I'm not saying any of these guys are world beaters, although i'd give Brown a look, but that's not the point.
The real story here is, are we all to believe that ATippett gets his scouting reports from f***ing Rotoworld? I mean, a site that's entire function is to round up stories that almost solely relate to fantasy sports?
"Hey, I mean if unpaid intern at Rotoworld says he's bad, what other information do I need?!!?"

Browner is not a #1 corner. I believe we have the personnel to fill the #2 corner position already on the team ASSUMING that we get a true #1 corner. That can only come from a trade. Thankfully that's exactly what we did to get Talib so hopefully Bill sees that and is looking for someone.
Have you seen our track record at drafting defensive backs in the second round?
Here is the bottom line:I never said any of them were world beaters, but if you think that by simply looking at statistics you can properly evaluate cornerback play, I have a bridge to sell you.
I think it's important to have a veteran CB or two in camp so that the most tenured outside corner on the team (Arrington being primarily slot) is not Alfonzo Dennard, who may or may not have been outright benched at the end of last season. Even if those players end up cut, it's good to have their experience to pass on to the young bucks.
Brown was actually a decent corner on some very good Niners teams recently, if he's healthy I have no problem giving him a shot. Take some flyers and hope one pans out.
