ESPN's John Clayton reports that the Raiders have reached agreement on a three-year, $45 million contract with Nmamdi Asomugha. $26 million is guaranteed.
Al Davis is not afraid to go big, and this time it's appropriate. Asomugha is the type of player you overpay - the best cornerback in the NFL squarely in his prime. He's worth extra to the Raiders because of their man-to-man scheme. The per-year numbers set a bench for corners that aren't likely to be matched for a long time.

Haha with these insane contracts no wonder players aren't leaving Oakland until Al Davis gets mad at them.

But Moss still owned him ;)

Crazy money.

He's worth more than a top-five QB?
Wow. $15mm a year.

Isn't that like 50% higher than the San Fran deal two seasons ago?
And only three years?

Asante's salary looks like a bargain by comparison.

Thanks ;)

I feel sorry for him really. Stuck on a team with no hope!!!!

If I was being paid $15 M a year I don't think I would really be sad even if my team went 0-48 in the span LOL And obviously he doesn't care much about that either seeing how he signed with Oakland

Anyone have the numbers the Patriots had specifically against him? Like, times thrown at and catches and all that good stuff?
