Moss Growing Into New Role As Mentor by Christopher Price of WEEI
Hard to imagine now, but just a couple years ago there were many on this board who were more excited about the trade for Doug Gabriel than the trade for Randy Moss. And right about this time two years ago there were some - fueled by speculation from Tomase and Florio - that thought Moss would be cut before the start of the 2007 season.
Randy Moss has had a lot of adjectives attached to his name over the years: selfish, petulant, mercurial, brilliant.
But at the dawn of his third season with the Patriots, he’s picked up another description: mentor. In fact, the 32-year-old Moss has taken a proactive role as an advisor to new and veteran players who might be struggling to learn the New England system, as well as those teammates who want to know the trade secrets of the six-time Pro Bowler.
