1.) The effort did seem to be lower than we've seen so far this year, but they weren't rolling over or anything like that.
2.) I wouldn't worry too much about the Nickel D because you're right, it was very basic. Bodden who may be our best corner was also out. It could also be a result of the coaches not wanting to show to much yet.
3.) I agree, whole O-line had a game to forget.
4.) Welker/Hernandez/Woodhead/Green-Ellis all seemed to show effort, I wouldn't be to upset with any of them.
5.) McCourty did have some bad plays, didn't seem to have his head in the game on some of the passes. He also did make some good breakups too though.
6.) Brady doesn't seem to trust Ocho either, for good reason. At this point hard to see him making it over 500 yards receiving. Hopefully he can get the system down sooner rather than later and start to play naturally instead of thinking everything through, which it sort of seems like now. We all know he has the talent.
7.) Agreed, Price also didn't show much given his chance with the 1st team.
8.) It seemed like the Lions were the ones being dirty, I don't blame them for fighting back.
I also noted that Anderson seemed to get a lot of starter snaps at the beginning, got pushed around. Personnel groupings seemed to be a little scattered, with the coaches getting looks at different players most likely.
Overall the Lions played the better game from top to bottom, but I wouldn't read too much into it because clearly the Pats weren't firing on all cylinders.
That's what happens with Brady, and that is the game plan against him, get to him early and he gets rattled and as a result you get him off his game. It was all related to the protection and lackthereof, it throws all of his rythmn off.
It seems to me that Brady is getting increasingly worse under pressure, which is a huge problem because good defenses have always been getting to him. Pats o-line is good but has been getting embarrassed in key games and I don't see how it'll be any different this season.
The best part is that we'll get this crap out of our system now instead of week 1 vs Miami. Coach 'em up Bill!

Did the O-line look good out there?
We put little pressure on the opposing QB.
Have you ever watched Steelers or Packers games? Brady is better than A-Rod or Big Ben WITH PROTECTION, but under pressure he's a below average quarterback at best.
And I meant that the o-line usually looks good, except for playoff games.
Suh cutting effortlessly through our stud rookie LT
I agree, earlier in his career it was very tough to rattle him. Now, it's different, it's clear that if you hit him early, he does get rattled and it impacts the rest of his game, as we saw in the POs. He's definately changed over the last few years in that regard.

Here's my description of tonights game.....tell me if it sounds familiar.
Our opponent played with more intensity and much more physicality.
Brady faced constant unyielding pressure from a four man front. Forced him to make bad throws.
We put little pressure on the opposing QB. The new scary wrinkle was the opposing QB didn't NEED a lot of time to throw.
Two most depressing moments....Suh cutting effortlessly through our stud rookie LT and multimillion dollar....top 3 ...all world...super tough LG,
and
The worst INT i've seen Brady throw in a very long time.
Frustration noted, but this was clearly not the same defensive scheme that the Pats used last week.
I don't know why they decided not to use that scheme, but they just didn't.
