That's the current rumor floating around anyway...

While Ty isn't exactly washed up (played all 16 game, 47 tackles, 13 PD's, and 2 INT's), the Chiefs supposedly believe he's no longer worth that large contract.

The other associated rumor involves Ty recently putting his condo up for sale.

Has anyone else heard about this?

If the Pats sign him, I think he might be better suited for FS at his age. If Harrison retires after Sunday, it might be a great option to shure up the safety position. Sanders and Meriweather can rotate with Law for those two safety spots.

He still tackles very well, and can still be an effective player. I don't know if anyone remembers, but Ty had said it was hard to pick the Chiefs over NE, so who knows...

    #75 Jersey

Ty Law is still better than 75% of the CB's. You don't go from being a premier shut down CB to a safety over night.

And who cares about Ty at this point during the week with the Super Bowl looming . . . . . . ?

It's likely a much lower salaried CB or Safety could do an equivalent job, but that's an argument for after Sunday.

Winners in the NFL have no sentimentality.

Law is an average CB now. Law has alway wanted to go the Rod Woodson route and switch to FS when his CB skills declined. BTW, Woodson did turn into a HOF caliber FS overnight when he switched from CB to FS. I am guess that Law will be switching sooner rather than later to FS.

Yeah he looked pretty average getting 2 picks in last years wild card game vs the Colts.

That was last year and it was only one game. This year, he had two total INTs this entire year and both were against Phillip Rivers. The guy isn't what he was.

He wanted to move to FS later in his career and he probably can be a Pro Bowl FS. The guy is going to be 34 in 11 days and could probably extend his career for another 3-4 years by making the move. Why wouldn't he move?

I would want Ty Law for the sole purpose of the Colts game next year.

And Buffalo is playing some home games in Canada so if Ty is back in the AFC East, that border trip could be right up his alley (circa 1997).

    No Jersey Selected

I'd love to see Ty come back under the right circumstances. One of my all-time favorite Pats. His performance in the 2003 AFCCG was other-worldly.

    #24 Jersey

I haven't seen him play for a while but right now Hobbs is our only CB for next year (unless you count Andrews and Richardson). Samuel, Gay and Scott are all UFA. So for the right price I wouldn't be turning him down depending on how the offseason plays out.

Everything said on the internet should be taken extremely seriously.

If he wants to play at a vet minimum I wouldn't mind seeing Ty back at all. I still love the guy. I don't think he should get more playing time in place of guys like Meriweather and Sanders who should be our starting safeties when Rodney retires but Ty would make for a fine Nickel or Dime back. Still a great tackler too.

I think Law would understand that if he were to come back to New England; he'd better have already fed his family.

Edit: Ty Law would STILL be the best Cornerback on this team. If he were to move to FS; that works too.

There will be other teams willing to give him more then the vet min imo. Highly doubt law goes that route.

I was wrong about Maroney though , so who knows.

You're likely right. I think Ty would like to come back to NE but I think his pride is too strong to turn down more money from another team than to take a significant discount to play in another Super Bowl. He took his stand in the spring of 2004 and is probably gonna stick to it until his career is over.

I'd probably do the same thing though, I mean who wouldn't want another million bucks?
