They went 8-8 geez. They were a second half collapse away from winning their division. He didn't even get a whole year with his biggest acquisition (Palmer). Even without Al Davis, the Raiders continue to befuddle . . .
Except that they traded away their picks in the panic to sign Palmer and win now. Oops!
I don't think he was a great HC, but still, I don't think he deserved to be fired, not after one decent or mediocre season.
He's responsible for the Carson Palmer trade. He deserves to be tarred and feathered, nevermind just getting fired.
My point is that neither he nor the Raiders have really allowed the acquisition of Palmer to fully play out. To me, it looks like a horrible, embarassing trade. But Jackson should have been given a second bite at the apple.
He struck me as a big talker but with little substance.
I hope the Patriots hire him this week, just to make everyone in Denver flip out even more.
The good news is, as you pointed out, the lack of draft picks. Also, the Raiders are looking at the second highest 2012 cap number in the league, so that should slow down any improvement.
The bad news is that there's a new sheriff in town, and that sheriff has the Ron Wolf seal of approval.
BB to Oakland: "Would you like your second-rounder back? We'll give it back to you straight up for your first next year. . . ."
