If the Pats and Moss have had an agreement for a while now, there is not advantage to them announcing it early.
It is too the Pats advantage to keep an agreement quiet, so that other teams might then set aside money to offer Moss. Then, the Pats would have less competition for FA signings (Briggs?).
Don't worry yourselves. Moss isn't going anywhere. Tommy B would completely, COMPLETELY flip out and lose it if Moss left. The Pats could never afford that. They'd be better off paying Moss 50M.
