If the Pats and Moss have had an agreement for a while now, there is not advantage to them announcing it early.

It is too the Pats advantage to keep an agreement quiet, so that other teams might then set aside money to offer Moss. Then, the Pats would have less competition for FA signings (Briggs?).

Don't worry yourselves. Moss isn't going anywhere. Tommy B would completely, COMPLETELY flip out and lose it if Moss left. The Pats could never afford that. They'd be better off paying Moss 50M.

i will be very angry @ Randy if he ends up elsewhere. Guy comes in here and says he doesnt need money, wants to be on a winning team, praises us like we've looked up to Jesus and now..were having a dispute over a contract.

as of now, he looks like a FAKE to me. i honestly believed him when he said he came to win, money wasnt an issue and now, he wants to be paid like what he deserves.

That would be a very...subtle strategy. Whatever floats your boat...

    Re: Moss silence likely strategic

Unless you were on the conference call between his agent and the Pats FO, you cant really comment on Moss being about the money. We have NO IDEA what the Pats offered him, so until we get info on each parties perception of a "fair contract", we should reserve judgement. I dont know why when fans hear contract disputes they always assume its a player being greedy and not a FO not willing to pony the deserved money.

i think pats fans need to get use to the idea that moss could be gone. i for one dont think its the end of the world. the pats will figure it out like they always do.

    Re: Moss silence likely strategic

Yeah, but that number came from a rumor that the Pats had signed him at that value, which we now know is bogus. So imo its fair to dismiss the $10 mill rumor altogether unless we hear something else.

I'm mixed on Moss. If we sign him, great, we should have a great offense. But I am worried about him getting older, injuries from the past, the slowdown in production in the playoffs, the incident with that woman and paying him $10M dollars. At 2007's $3M those risks are a lot easier to take.

    Re: Moss silence likely strategic

Now if asante the cornerback just got like what 9.5 million why would moss only take 10 come on. He is a star wide reciever he could probably get 11 or so a season. You have seen what free agents are getting right now it is insane.

I guess it's possible, but If Randy isn't signed, it's probably because they haven't reached an agreement.

    Re: Moss silence likely strategic

what if hte pats agreed with Moss to wain until after the whole situation with the woman dies down???

so that the pats know where moss stands???

then they will sign him with a deal that may already be in place???

    Not Franchising Moss Backfires

really dont understand the rationale, if we franchise him we hold the leverage, now he holds the leverage, we should of protected our asset, its obvious a deal is not in place, even if we has a disgruntal moss for a year at 7.9 million its better than having a whole new set of recievers brady has to get use to again,, not good
