A rather odd list, in my opinion - though fantasy football fans might agree with the ranking by Hughes.

I think this is a crappy list. Here are a few thoughts:

    • Fasano is never going to come here. He is going to look for starter money and a starting job. Why would be be the third TE, possibly fourth if Ballard returns from injury.
    • Mike Wallace, Danny Amadola, and Dwayne Bowe shouldn't be priorities 1, 2, and 3. Even if the Pats don't resign Welker, WR isn't that big of a priority.
    • I think Brandon Moore makes sense. At his age, he won't cost that much and he is still pretty productive.
    • I don't want Ted Ginn. I would rather have Josh Cribbs if you are going for a pure returner. He is far better than Ginn at both kick returns and punt returns.
    • I like the idea of Levitre, but he might cost too much for the Pats' blood.
    • I wouldn't touch Stephen Jackson except at the right price. Too much wear on those tires.

Unless something changed, Steven Jackson is not a Free Agent as he did not opt out of his contract.

I have to disagree that WR isn't a big priority for the Pats. With Branch, Welker and Edelman as UFA, WR is one of the biggest priorities this off-season. Yes, if they re-sign Welker and Edleman it moves down the priority list significantly, but until that happens, it's right there at the top. As it RT.

That is a fantasy football list beyond Levitre and Hartline. The others are going to be too expensive. And with teams like the Bengals having 55 million in cap space to spend, the Mike Wallaces and Danny Amendola's are going to get ridiculous offers.. Much like last year.

I assume you meant this as WR doesn't merit the top 3 spots on the FA "want" list, not that WR isn't a priority generally.

from a value standpoint, I'd prefer hartline......I think he's pretty dependable and I think he will cost less than welker even though he has shown the ability to be as productive. add cherilus as vollmer's replacement for less $$ and a healthier body......Levitre may be good value, but not sure if he will successfully compete against connolly and cannon......but he would provide cap flexibility to do something with mankins and connolly after 2013 if Levitre proves better than both.

connolly played well this year. what's more, wendell played well at C

the value question is whether he would be enough of an upgrade to warrant the cap hit.

no, it wasn't a joke, but there's no need to fly off the handle

Not sure where you got flying off the handle from, but Connolly was the weak link this season. Levitre could walk in here and start from jump street.

    Triplechamp -

Wallace still can't run routes well. He thrives on the Broken Play where he and Ben can play "Sandlot" football. Wants to be paid like the top receiver in the league.

Bowe has led the league or been in the top 10 for drops since he came into the league. People are complaining about Welker and his drops, but Bowe has as many or more consistently.

    From 2009-2011:
Welker - Targeted 439 Times. 363 Catchable. 32 Drops. Drop Rate of 8.8%
Bowe - Targeted 362 times. 225 Catchable. 26 Drops. Drop rate of 11.85%

Amendola has had injury issues each of the last two seasons. Good to Very good slot receiver.

Probably the perception that he's saddled with crap QB play, is young with some upside, and generally fits the archetype of a receiver who could succeed in this system.

Oh, and he doesn't cost 10MM per.
