We used to lead the league in fewest % of dropped passes back during our championship years. Since 2005 we have been average or below average in our receivers and tight ends with their hands.
Thomas' bonehead play at the end, which killed our drive, would never have happened under a more disciplined OC, who would have addressed this long ago and over and over in practice.
The quick burning of timeouts, and the draw play on 3rd and 16, are more symptoms of completely average to moronic offensive play calling, not to mention disorganization and lack of attention to detail.
Belichick gives both of his coordinators tons of leeway, always has. Look at how different our defenses have looked under Romeo Crennel, Mangini, and now Pees. Same thing applies to McDaniels. The guy calls plays like he's playing a Madden video game, the same 5 predictable things over and over. The attention to detail, especially on hands/catching, has really gone downhill the past few years.
