When Synder hired an OC without having a HC and then said that no announcement on HC would be made until next week, the first thought that occurred to me was that he was waiting to talk to someone involved in the this game.

Would be a disappointment, certainly, but I'm not too worried. Maybe this would result in BB just naming Brady OC.

... and when Josh declined earlier, the only "true" vacancies were the Falcons and the Ravens...

I think he made his statement not expecting the Redskins job to be open until next season. I think he'd be wise to at least be interviewed.

    Disable Jersey

He shouldn't take the job. Interviewing is fine.

Well yeah he did ....some weeks back. Not just Redskins but any team.
This reporter is just assuming something that isn't there.

Actually, IIRC, what he said at the time was that he was focused on preparing for the run for the Super Bowl. I don't remember him ever explicitly saying, "I am going to be the OC for the Pats next year."

That said, I really don't see him wanting to leave just yet; if he isn't having fun, I can think of a few thousand people who'd be willing to "suffer" through his job for him. :)

Well, at least he doesn't have a lightbulb shaped head like Joe Gibbs.

I'd really like to know what McDaniels really said. I don't trust any of these media parasites. They always put words in people's mouths. When I hear Josh say it, then I'll believe it. It's going to be an interesting offseason.

Freaking Snyder and his Washington team. The CNBC special about Kraft and the Patriots said that the Patriots were the third most valuable NFL team (not sure how calculated, revenues and profits probably though) behind the Redskins and the Cowboys. Blind luck as far as I am concerned, with the Redskins.

Would losing McDaniels really be a major blow to the Pats' offense? I'm not saying that I don't think he's good- I just think that there are other guys, probably as good, who would kill for his job.

I would rather lose Josh and keep Randy, then lose Randy.

No disrespect to Josh McDaniels, but I think BB can find someone else to tell Brady throw the ball to Moss unless he is triple teamed in which case throw it to Wes.

That's exactly how I read it. Hey if he wants to go...then thanks for the memories Josh and good luck. Unfortunately for you, you can't take Brady with you. ;)
They have survived the loss of Charlie Weiss, and I believe that they will survive the loss of Josh Mcdaniels.

The Redskins probably have signficantly more merchandise revenue, if I had to guess, on account of the fact that they have far more long-time fans and tradition than the Pats. Same as the Cowboys. There's really no shame in that, though, and I'll take a better-run company over a higher-valued company any day. In fact, when dealing with asset-based valuation, in particular, there are a lot of instances where the return on asset ratio is far more indicative of success than the raw asset value.

For an example on the open market, look at a company like ExxonMobil, which, even with $240B in assets, has a market cap. that's dwarfed by, say, Google and its $23B of assets. Google has far fewer assets yet, due to the efficiency and long term sustainability of it does have, it is regarded far more favorably by the market. It is the better company. I'm not sure how the numbers that CNBC used were reached, but, given that it's the Redskins and Cowboys at the top, I wouldn't be surprised if there was asset valuation involved.

Start with the largest capacity stadium in the NFL. I live in DC, and I can tell you that the Redskins fanbase is about as passionate as any in the country. The Redskins are long since eliminated from the postseason, and I see Redskins jerseys every single day. Pro shops here are still sold out of Sean Taylor jerseys.

    It's not blind luck.

IIRC, they made most of their money off of their new stadium, FedEx Field, which seats a league-high 91,000 people.

Supposedly the Giants DC and Steve Mariucci are rumored to be objects of Snyders interest this week...

Josh wouls be nuts to take that job. Gibbs is staying on as a "consultant", Snyders Cap guru (is that an oxymoron) just got a promotion and will likely have final personnel say, they had three other HC's on staff and dissed them all, Snyder will pay but this has not proved to be a plum job in today's NFL. By next season Josh will be at the top of a lot of short lists. But if he can he should interview next week just for the exposure and experience.
