I'll go with what Bedard posted this AM.
I believe it was Zo who commented yesterday or was quoted on the pregame saying that when Cassel was traded and Hoyer was drafted Bill told him that they knew what they had with him the day he walked in. He instinctively grasped this offense in ways even Cassel didn't out of the gate. That is what you want in a backup QB in a cerebral system. A guy who all things being equal and teamates executing as they should can run this defense without requiring wholesale changes. Back in the day when Rohan was the backup, they had a Rohan package they'd run if he had to step in.
They’re keeping both backup quarterbacks.
Stop dreaming about trading Brian Hoyer. He fits into the offense tailored to Brady and gives the Patriots the best chance to continue winning if the unthinkable occurs. As for Ryan Mallett, he has made progress but is not quite ready. When or if it’s his turn, the Patriots would have to change the offense to suit his skills.
