Looks like we’ll have to find a new candidate for “Most Frivolous Lawsuit of the Year.” According to this story, lawyers for a former Rams player and three fans plan to withdraw a lawsuit that accuses the New England Patriots of cheating in Super Bowl XXXVI.

There should be repercussions for stunts like that

Could this be that they have gotten word that Matt Walsh doesn't have the Holy Grail (or for their purposes the videotape of the Rams' walkthrough)?

Sorry to disapoint you trolls and your spokesman Specter. But there will be no lawsuit and no hearings. As a matter of fact there may be a trial and Walsh will be the accused.LOL

I have heard there is a law against frivolous lawsuits, at least in some states. I don't know what the definition is.

This was a federal case, though, so I doubt that law would apply. OTOH, a person who files numerous such lawsuits can effectively be barred from filing further lawsuits.

How long do we have to wait on the sanctions that should be filied on this lawyer for clogging up the federal court docket with this POS suit while Katrina victims wait patiently for their turn?

Gee, what an astonishing turn of events.

LOL. Poor Specter. He must truly be an idiot if he thought that was honestly going anywhere. As for the wide-eyed trolls who were talking depositions and supbpoenas, I don't expect anything of intelligence from them. But Specter is in the Senate....you'd like to think his IQ is higher than room temperature.

I've given up on politicians doing anything smart, they look out for their own best interests and that is pretty much it.
Would LOVE to see this being discussed on all the sports talk shows, unfortunately I believe it will be ignored.

Heh...I saw the AP story a few minutes after it was posted tonight, then saw Tomase's blog post a little while after that. Tomase linked to the official court document, which I promptly sent to Florio (I usually send him 4-6 e-mails a week, some of which are just news stories, others of which are rumors that I want to get to the mainstream...like the "audio glitch" from the Colts game - I sent him that mp3 file that he posted, as well as the quote from Polian after about "disreputable blog sites"). Maybe about 2 hours after the AP story was posted...:

Yes, I did "tip you off," Florio...I suppose.
