I thought Mayo was a difference maker in the second half on Sunday. He marshalled the D very well and was far more involved than he has been recently.
Could it be that his recent lack of form and starts is down to not being 100% sharp after two consecutive long, long injury lay outs and that finally he's starting to get back to somewhere approaching his old self? Even if he's still not firing on all cylinders. There's been plenty of criticism of his recent performances, despite his history of being a tackling machine and leader of our defense, so credit where it's due.
Other much maligned players who have really stepped up recently are Logan Ryan and Patrick Chung. And although he's hardly been used, Aaron Dobson has done everything asked of him when involved. I know the mounting injuries are frustrating but I think we've got really solid, underrated depth and we'll get through this just fine.
