Interesting tidbits on Thomas

this is basically adalius blaming other people for his poor performance. bill saw him as a ILB well don't complain take your check and be a pro and play ILB. That is your job... to do what the coach says. This is once again a example of a sportsman blaming everything but himself for his poor performance and things going wrong

Yeah we all saw his goatness spent 10 seconds trying and failing miserably to block Jags QB Garrard before Garrard tackled Brandon Meriweather stopping the run back after his INT. It was an embarrasing half-hearted effort by his goatness and all caught on film.
Adalius Thomas is a stiff, a team cancer and the sooner they free themselves from that washed up goat the better.

If he were cut a he would go through waivers, and a team which picked him up on waivers would have to pay his salary anyway, unless all 31 teams passed on him.

Only if he were cut after the trading deadline would Thomas be subject to waivers.

With all due respect, this is total revisionist history. AD is still a freak specimen of an athlete who would have thrived here if not for the passive scheme that Pees and Belichick run. That's the point though--he was a bad fit to begin with, being asked to be a cog in a disciplined, complex defense that rarely blitzes and attacks the LOS. That's got to be frustrating for someone used to playing Rex Ryan-style defense.

I'm not going to question BB's defensive philosophy, but for all the moaning on this board lately about needing a pass rusher, it's ironic that the one guy best suited for it has been here all along. Maybe AD's attitude problems stem from the same frustration that 99% of the posters on this board have been expressing about presssure on the QB.

do you ever watch games? Thomas rushes all the time. He is the 4th pass rusher from the 34 almost all the time, and he plays DE in the sub packages.
What are you asking out of his 'freakish' abilities that we blitz 8 guys so he can go untouched?
It embarrassing that a Patriot fan who should hae gained enough knowledge would speak as if Bill Belichick is a novice and should be learning at the feet of the great Rex Ryan.
Thats the same Rex Ryan who had a 35-29 record as DC after being handed the best D in the league, and won 2 playoff games in 4 years, and is now a whopping 8-7 as a HC.
Gee, could it be that the flashy risky D that creates statistics and impresses people like you who are looking for a way to trash BB is less likely to win that a more conservative defense that is concerned with playing football for 60 minutes and winning games and championships.
Feel free to go back and analyze how many 'aggressive, blitzing' defenses have won champinships in this league. BB himself may have more.

The same thing can be said for the offense.

Thomas is going to come up big in the playoffs. Dean Pees is starting to use Guyton and Thomas a lot more in the blitzing schemes.

The Pats have used Banta Cain mostly in this role, actually.

Asking that poster if he ever watches games, is a pretty weak response. I'd expect better from a moderator of this forum.

Given that the Steelers have won 2 championships since the last time the Patriots won one, and that the Ravens also won a title in the past 10 years, and given that one of the teams considered for "best ever" status is the '85 Bears team that was blitzing opponents before they got off the bus, you might want to re-think your last 2 lines.

We have 2 decisions on Thomas

1) Is Thomas worth $5M for his services on the 2010 patriot team? Included in this price is a team option for 2011 services for $6M.

2) When should such a decision be made and actions taken?

In an uncapped year, there doesn't seem much reason to cut Thomas early, unless Belichick is really through with him.

The only team that's won SBs this past decade playing read and react has been the Pats. All the other teams have had defenses that attack. So I don't see your point.

Pittsburg blitzes.
Tampa plays one gap attack.
So do the Colts.
Giants also one gap attack.
