Chiefs GM Scott Pioli reportedly intends to use the 2010 second-rounder acquired in the Tony Gonzalez trade as bait to acquire an extra pick or two this weekend.

The Chiefs figure to be one of the most active teams this weekend as they're also desperately trying to move out of the No. 3 spot. Pioli has a history of wheeling and dealing on draft day, and his current team has a lot more needs than his recent Pats editions.

I am wondering if we could trade #89 this year to obtain a 2nd rounder from the Chiefs.

I'd be thrilled to trade #89 for Atlanta's 2010 2nd round pick, but I expect Pioli has something more dramatic in mind. Maybe something like this:

- Trade #3 to Washington for #13, #80 and a 2010 1st round pick
- Trade #13 and #80 to Green Bay for #9 to move up and get Tyson Jackson
- Trade #65 and the 2010 2nd rounder from Atlanta to move into the top/middle of the 2nd round, picking up a 3-4 pass rusher like Barwin or English.

Just a guess.

The other really big wild cart with KC is what they're going to do with Glenn Dorsey. There are a lot of rumors flying around that KC will trade Dorsey, which makes sense if they are committed to a 3-4 defense. Atlanta is mentioned as one possibility, giving up #24 plus something more (not sure what that would be, as they've already given KC their 2010 #2 for Tony Gonzalez). TB could be another possibility. NO could decide to pair Dorsey and Sedrick Ellis at DT, which would be pretty interesting. But I think the ideal scenario for KC would be trading #3 to Washington for #13, 80 and a 2010 1st, and trading Dorsey to a team like Jacksonville for #8. Dorsey would probably be good value for the Jags at DT, and a better player than anyone they would get at #8 this year. At #8 and #13 KC could probably get Tyson Jackson and Rey Maualuga or some such package (possibly even Aaron Curry at 8 and trade back up for Tyson Jackson), and for less money than #3, plus they would add extra 1st and 2nd round picks in 2010 (from Washington and Atlanta). Or they could trade back from #13 and target someone like Connor Barwin or Larry English in the late 1st round. They could possibly then combine #67 and 80 and move up for Ron Brace in the 2nd round to get a 3-4 NT. Lots of options.

If that happened I'd be willing to trade our 47 for their 65 and 2010 2nd next year. I'd be disappointed if it was for the 34 though.
