He couldnt cover Aiken or Stanback.
Somebody PLEASE inform the Patriots front office that he is worth a look.
Are you kidding me? As long as Cromartie's knees aren't shot, a Maroney for Cromartie swap would be a total robbing of the Chargers! I would really like that trade if his health checks out. *knocks on wood*
Interesting thought. It seems one-sided in our favor, but not everyone is as weirdly down on Maroney as Pats media and fans. I could see the Chargers point if Cromartie has been exasperatinly underachieving for them, and if they remember LoMo in the playoffs. That would be a nice trade for both sides.
I just spoke to Detroit Lions CB Phil Buchanon who told me that the Lions placed him on the trade block. He said he would take considerably less money to come and play for the Patriots and that all he wants to do is play for a winner and make big plays for that team. He is a great person with amazing physical attributes, and he did well in the Tampa 2 scheme despite having a history of playing well in man schemes. He certainly showed he hasn't lost a step when he caught AD from behind and forced a fumble when they played this season. What do you guys think of P-Buc in a Pats jersey?
I'd much rather have Maroney than Cromartie.

Same. I don't like the idea of trading for a CB with a lingering hip injury.
I'm all for Buchanon, though, if we can get him for a reasonable price. I've always liked him.

Butler, and Wilhite will have another offseason under their belt to learn, and improve. Not that im saying we shouldnt draft, or sign anyone else. I just think the critics should lay off the youngins. BB will get Wilhite to learn the art of 'looking for the ball', and he'll be improved this year. If Bodden stays, fine. Just as long as it isnt for big money, which is likely what he wants.
and not sure what the deal is with Wheatley.
I'm pretty sure he's viewed as crap by the SD fans and would gladly trade him for Maroney.
I like the guy, super speedy, tall, only problem is he's all finesse. He doesn't like to tackle and you'll never see him light someone up.
If he can return to his insane interceptions and kickoff returns, why not.
As long as we get some sort of pass rush, I would take either Cromartie or Buchanon...
Since when did Samuel make a tackle? He was a playmaker like Cromartie. Assante would rather have been in Brockton if a player came his way in Foxborough. A tackle made on the outside from Samuele was a "value-add" when that took place.
Maroney for Cromartie? No brainer for both sides.
How soon?

There is a major difference between Samuel and Cromartie. Samuel is actually a smart player who liked to gamble way too often. Cromartie is just athletic. He's horrible in coverage and a lousy tackler. I would not give up Maroney for Cromartie.
And I see no problems in the secondary, but if some people insist the Patriots get someone, I'd rather they get Marlin Jackson who's a better cover corner. His injuries mas scare some off, but he's the only guy I see the Patriots having a realistic chance at having. The Colts are going to have to spend their money on Bethea or Jackson and I'm pretty sure they will go with Bethea.
