I was working at a school in Baton Rouge, and he was there speaking to the kids and the importance of literacy and listening to the adults around you.
told the kids that he wasn't sure how long his NFL career would last and that you have to be smart with your money. Because your career could be over in one play. Talked about being undrafted and still believing that he was good enough to play in the NFL.
Also told the kids that brain power was more important than any other physical tool you could have. Talked about how he used to be teased about being studying while everyone else was running around getting in trouble.
One of the most memorable things he told the kids was this
"Doing what you want to do, doesn't get you what you want."
"Doing what you have to do, can get you anything you want."
saying "Nobody wants to do homework, b/c you probably want to play your video game. But you have to do you homework, if you want to be successful.
It was a pretty cool to see him interact with the kids and open up to them.
