Hey Bro, you were right this summer and you're right now.
You and I were critical of the lack of drafting outside linebackers and the prospect of Pierre Woods starting was an obvious non-starter to some of us. Though people here haven't realized until recently that BB isn't perfect.
Tully Banta-Cain is having a nice season. But it's odd to realize he's our best passrusher.
That Burgess guy we got from Oakland is a waste. We need outside pressure desperately. And receivers to spell Welker some relief.
Thanks State. Banta-Cain is playing hard and is clearly is the Pats best pass rusher on the team. Unfortunately, that's not a good thing. At first, I was open to the trade for Burgess, but not for a 3rd round pick. No more trading with the Raiders please.
The Pats have 2 receivers that they added this year. They added Edelman and Tate. Unfortunately, Edelman broke his arm and Tate was recovering from a torn ACL.
I don't know if you put me on ignore because I've haven't heard a lot from you lately. Anyways, the Pats did a lazy job this off season acquiring a WR to take some relief off of Welker and Moss. There were plenty of free agent veteran WR's available that the Pats could've had but went the cheap route (as usual) and tried to squeeze anything that Galloway had left in the tank. As for Edelman, at this point he's a jag and he has a lot to learn. And Tate should've even seen the field this season.
As for LBers, they DID add a guy in the draft. His name is McKenzie. Unfortunately he tore his ACL in rookie camps.
That's great, but our point is that the Pats haven't valued their LB's until the 2008 draft. Because they've waited so long, their defense is an absolute mess if you haven't noticed. And by the way, don't expect much out of McKenzie next season after suffering a pretty severe injury.
Also, there wasn't a LB or DE who the Pats could have added that would have addressed their issues on defense, directly.
That could've easily been avoided had they thought about this sooner.
The fact is, BB will never win another super bowl with Tom Brady as his QB until he changes his schemes, get's players that can actually play defense, drafting stud lineman when they fall into your lap, stop trading out, and stop the insanity they call an offense.
DaBruinz, if you still don't get it now, you never will.
