Not to mention I think 12 of them came in one game courtesy of McPuke having one of his total melt down evenings.

I did know that. I'd imagine it's because other than Vrabel we didn't have any one player with all that many. Thomas and Green each had 6.5 and no one else on the team had more than 4.

The Giants get notoriety for it more because their sacks are concentrated in fewer "pass rush guys". Fair or not, it is what it is.

    Plus....

    Our give/take ratio is +16.

    Giants are a -9

You'd think all that QB pressure they generate would cause more turnovers.

evryone alludes to the giant pass rush cause they are searching for a reason why the Giants can win. No need to search for reasons for a Pats victory. And if you mention the pats are second than the reason doesn't seem as valid.

It's worth noting that the Giants talented pass-rush, while obviously elite, got a LOT of those sacks in a few games against teams that struggled all year in protecting the QB, including 12 in one game against the Iggles.

They also had 6 against San Fran I believe. As for why they had a negative turnover ratio, Eli led the league in turnovers himself.

The Giants have 4 sacks in their last 4 games. I realize there are also pressures, and they got a lot of pressures on Romo in the fourth quarter of the playoff game in Dallas, but Brady is so good under the blitz as it is, plus we get back 3 key blockers.

The Cowgirl's line was so gassed at the end of that game that every play looked like a screen. Seriously, it was embarrassing to watch. There is no way the Pats line tires out like Dallas did, no way.

Also, If Creighton had made a couple catches (yeah, Mr. Mouth himself) the Giants would be watching this game from their respective living rooms.

I give the Giants credit for persevering rather than winning their last 2 games.

Yeah, they got just one sack against us and we had Neal, Kaczur, and K. Brady inactive for that Week 17 matchup.

Osi, Strahan and Tuck have 3 sacks combined in the last 6 games. Understanding that sacks aren't always proportional to pressure, those numbers suggest their pass rush, while good, isn't the sickeningly automated machine that some have made it out to be.

No, it isn't at all. In a lot of ways, our pass rush is a lot better. They are consistently rushing the same guys, while are pressure packages are much more varied (as evidenced by the distribution of the sacks).

People harp on the Giants pash rush because it's the one perceived "advantage" for that team, but I'm not even sure it is one.

I think I heard that the Giants had 16 sacks in two games this season so they are a little overrated in the sack department.

I know that the pats are in second, but the media doesn't make a big deal out of it because they want to hype up the giants. Honeslty, if you aren't a patriots fan or giants fan, you probably would just assume the pats are going to destroy the giants. This way they can generate more viewers by making it look like the giants are better than they really are.

The talking heads of the media may not look like it, but they know what they are doing.

No way. The Giants pass rush is much, much better than NE's. Even look at the last NE game; despite getting only one sack (with one negated by a penalty) they harassed Tommy all night, knocking him down some 8-9 times.

NE's pass rush is more front-runner than anything else. They are very inconsistent throughout the game, but accumulate some sacks when the game is starting to get out of hand and the other team is forced to pass on every down.

The Giants' pass rush is for real.

I like Osi UrineTurda. The Giants had twelve sacks against an Eagles BACKUP not starter they abused him all night long. They averaged one sack a game in the playoffs and gave up 2 a game.

Last time I looked, I don't think they line up an unsuspecting QB and have both defenses compete against each other to see how many sacks they can get. BTW, if that becomes a reality show, I want royalties.

The Giants don't have to pressure some average or abstract team...they have to do it against the Pats. This is important because the Giants are faced with a difficult choice. Rush 4 and hope your coverage can hold up for 4-5 seconds. Blitz, play man press and hope Brady is off target or Welker/Faulk/Watson have the butterfingers. I'm inclined to think you will see a 50-50 mix of both. In the last meeting, Torbor was the real pain in the arse, not the lawfirm of Gappy, Osi and Tuck.

I think the Pats will give Eli every chance to self-destruct on his own without bringing the house to force it. Key the run, get the Giants in predictable down-distance situations and just rush 4 (maybe even 3). As the pressure builds, Eli will be Eli and all will be right with the world.

I don't think those should count. Now both teams have 47... but while we're at it. The Giants had 6 other sacks in that game... ok take those out too. There you go... the Pats now lead the league in Sacks...
Now about that great Pats rush, Can you believe no one talks about it? They must not do anything right. I don't think ESPN, FOX, or any other channel should focus on both teams. Just the Pats. They're 18-0. They're such an underdog. Who cares what these people say. When the game is on... whatever happens... will happen. Nothing ever goes like we think. Hey lightning may strike and God Forbid... but the Giants may get some of the "bounces" everyone talks about.
