I like this schedule a lot. No real complaints at all from my end.
But know what is pissing me off? The yearly lowballing of the Patriots record by the media. And I'm not talking about the national media, they actually usually give the Pats credit in the preseason predictions. No I'm referring to people like Mike Reiss who just now predicted an 11-5 season. I see this EVERY year where the local writers (the good ones even) go on about "oh the schedule is hard and there is a string of games here or there that isn't very friendly" or whatever and then they predict 11-5 or 10-6. It happens every single year. News Flash: the Patriots don't lose 5 games. It just doesn't happen barring some catastrophic injury. And it won't happen now. 12-4 is the absolute floor this year just like it always is.
Meanwhile tonight you see the Packers and Cardinals beat writers predicting 13-3 season which is very realistic. And they are in much tougher divisions than we are.
If Brady is suspended I could realistically see an 1-3, 0-4 start. I know that isn't popular but do you expect Jimmy G to stare down the Cardinals D-line? Houston with Watt and Clowney? How about Buffalo who destroyed TB himself in the second meeting? Then we have the Dolphins who don't exactly have shrimps on the D-line.
Listen I think Jimmy G can play but he won't get starter reps in pre-season, most likely. That means he has to make the split second decisions TB has to make against those Ds. Easier said than done. If we had an actual run game, one that can make defenses hesitate then I'd feel much more comfortable.
If Brady plays all 4? 4-0. So I'm not all gloom and doom, just being realistic. We beat Houston, Miami and Buffalo because of TB. Without him....and right out of the chute....yikes.
