Here are the position games for the AFC East for 6 years. Construct them in such a way that you do not have 2 consecutive home or 2 consecutive away games with one division.

2014: North, South
2015: North, West
2016: South, West
2017: North, South
2018: North, West
2019: South, West

2014:
Current: AFCN1 @ AFCE1, AFCE1 @ AFCS1 Proposed: AFCE1 @ AFCS1, AFCN1 @ AFCE1

2015:
Current: AFCN1 @ AFCE1, AFCE1 @ AFCW1 Proposed: AFCE1 @ AFCN1, ACFW1 @ AFCE1

2016:
Current: AFCS1 @ AFCE1, AFCE1 @ AFCW1 Proposed: AFCE1 @ AFCW1, AFCS1 @ AFCE1

2017:
Current: AFCS1 @ AFCE1, AFCE1 @ AFCN1 Proposed: AFCE1 @ AFCS1, ACFN1 @ AFCE1

2018:
Current: AFCW1 @ AFCE1, AFCE1 @ AFCN1 Proposed: AFCE1 @ AFCN1, ACFW1 @ AFCE1

2019:
Current: AFCW1 @ AFCE1, AFCE1 @ AFCN1 Proposed: AFCE1 @ AFCW1, ACFS1 @ AFCE1

2014:
Proposed: AFCE1 @ AFCS1, AFCN1 @ AFCE1

2015:
Proposed: AFCE1 @ AFCN1, ACFW1 @ AFCE1

2016:
Proposed: AFCE1 @ AFCW1, AFCS1 @ AFCE1

2017:
Proposed: AFCE1 @ AFCS1, ACFN1 @ AFCE1

2018:
Proposed: AFCE1 @ AFCN1, ACFW1 @ AFCE1

2019:
Proposed: AFCE1 @ AFCW1, ACFS1 @ AFCE1
Well done, good sir, well done..!! As I noted in my initial post, it can be done for one single division, but you haven't looked at the impact of the above proposal on other divisions. You don't realize it, but you have totally screwed up the other divisions. Here are the position games for the AFC North:

2014: East, West
2015: East, South
2016: West, South
2017: East, West
2018: East, South
2019: West, South

Now construct these in such a way that conforms to the schedule you've laid out above for the AFC East (needless to say, you also have to conform to the fact that every team has 8 home and 8 road games).

Hint: You won't be able to.

Since there are an even number of divisions and an even number of position games, it's a pretty simple pattern.

It's not as simple as you think. In fact, it's impossible. Like I said, give us the AFC North position games for those 6 years in such a way that they are compatible with the schedule you laid out for the AFC East (and, of course, every team must have 1 home position game and 1 road position game per year).

You won't be able to do so without giving them a worse problem than the one you are trying to solve.

WTF.. Having to play Miami IN Miami at the end of the season again?? That's like 4 times in the last 6 years or something..
Much better than in the heat of September.
