Anf the special teams captain is ?????????
Not to stir anything but wasn't Moss a captain last year or was it the year before?
They had MANY more captains the past few years...I believe..having four is what they think will work this year..I think it's good what they have done..That COULD change later in the year..maybe not..I think BB mentioned that they would divide things up or indicated in some way these four could get it all done. Both I think.

Interesting, eh? I've been wondering about this since it became clear that Aiken was on the bubble.
The ST captain has always been a veteran who made his living on special teams, so he could not only lead the group but personally represent the importance of ST to the success of your team and your career. Right now the only guys on the roster who fit that description are Tracy White and Matt Slater.
I would have thought that Slater or Gostkowski would have been name ST captain. Having a captain has always shown the patriots understanding of the importance of special teams.
Perhaps we have a new era with the dumping of Aiken, Woods and Alexander. Perhaps the wish of this board has finally come true. Or perhaps our best two are expected to be Arrington and White, not really the right players to be captain.
I may agree in part...no way could either could be named ...BUT ALSO I sense a different approach...as BOX said fewer voices...stronger voices...MAYBE THIS is what this team needs THIS year. I am not one to think every year is the same. .that the mechanism is the same EACH..and every year. PAST years there were a LOT of captains..that worked..this year obviously less. I do NOT have any set amount that I believe will work..that MORE is better. I tend to think CoachB and the team have a better handle on it than any of us fans do.The one in bold is my bet. Arrington only has 9 NFL games under his belt, and White can't very well be named captain after 3 days with the team. Not to mention that you have to feel very confident that the player will stick on the roster all season before naming him captain. As for Gostkowski, I don't think a kicker can really serve as a role model for taking jobs on coverage & return teams seriously. Better to just wait than to name one of those guys to stand alongside Brady, Faulk, Wilfork and Mayo.

Well, you can't take away what had yet to be earned for the year, but we also don't know all the dynamics from last season which may be affecting this season. As it is, too few data points for educated speculation, what we do know: all four are leaders on and off the field and buy into the NEP philosophy. Works for me.That's certainly possible, but here's a question: if Aiken were still on the roster, do you think they would have taken away his captain title this year? If not, then the decision seems to be more about "who" than "how many."
