In New England it's baseball but the Patriots are not far behind.

The only reason football is more popular throughout America is because the games have more meaning. It's easier to watch 16 games than 162.

When the Sox go out and lose 4 or 5 in a row, they still could have a shot at the playoffs.

If the Pats were to lose 4/5 in a row, the season would all but be over.

No. In Boston it's baseball. Outside Boston -- the rest of New England -- it's the Patriots.

Football, and I don't even think it's close. As another poster said, less games which have more meaning. On top of that, football is a violent contact sport that's more fun to watch for most.

Red Sox not just own Boston, they own New England.

Red Sox are definitely extremely popular here in MA and around NE, but it's not like the Pats' popularity is nothing in comparison. All of our teams are very beloved by the region. Despite what a lot of people say, New England has great, loyal fans.

Of all the people I know in my life, I'd say the Patriots are more popular but that's just a small sampling of the population.

Patriots get huge coverage even if people on here think they don't.

In boston, i think more people like baseball then football

^True. Would say the same as well.
