The Colts are not finished, but their offense is in the beginning stages of decline. With this being said, 11-5 should be well within reach. I think the 14-2 days are long gone. For the past two years, Manning has lacked that stud receiver lining up opposite side of Reggie Wayne. Marvin Harrison was a disaster the last two seasons--he simply hung around, picked up extra money and made it difficult for the Colts to draft a stud WR. Gonzalez might thrive as a system receiver, but he is not going to put up Reggie Wayne/young Marvin Harrison numbers. It kind of reminds me of the Red Sox offense when they lost Manny.
I think the defense is solid and relatively young. The sack specialists are the cornerstone to that defense and are still in their prime. The secondary is talented, yet health is a huge issue. Bethea broke his hand and Bob Sanders has just recently consulted Dr. James Andrews.
The Pats are definitely the better team right now. The only team that should beat the Pats this year is themselves. The Colts don't scare me like they did in years past. I thought the 2007 Colts were the best team in the NFL, as many including myself think they were good enough to achieve a perfect season had they got by NE in that Week 9 game. The 2007 NE team had the best offense ever, but they lacked the defense to be the best team. The Pats are loaded this year from top to bottom---the subtle yet effective additions of Burgess and Bodden really make me think this is the best Patriots team ever.
