It's easy, and only takes a few moments. In every sport, there are injuries that can be played through and injuries that can't, and those injuries can vary by position in some sports. Running backs lead with their upper bodies/shoulders to take on hits. Maroney injured his shoulder, meaning every hit was a jar to his injury. Either the shoulder didn't heal or he got a new shoulder injury and had to go through the same process all over again. We're not talking about just bruised ribs here, where taking a week or two off solves the problem.
Let's have some of the tough guys on this board take a pounding from 350 pound tackles and 250 pound linebackers flying in and cracking them shoulder to shoulder, even with healthy shoulders. Maybe then they'll shut up about this. Rather than busting on the running back, perhaps they could show some concern that a kid of that age is already dealing with two shoulder surgeries (Well, assuming he had surgery both times since the Patriots medical staff can keep secrets better than the CIA) and that could lead to issues later on in his life. The kid tried to play through the injuries and couldn't. I'm quite confident that a lot of the people complaining about his fragility would be pulling themselves out of sports at the first tweak of a hamstring, assuming they could bring themselves to get off the couch first.
His style of dancing in the backfield no matter how healthy will prevent him from being much of a game breaker.
Until he hits the hole hard like Sammy Morris does, he won't be much of a threat ever.
I will believe this sudden resurgence of Maphony when I see it
Talk is cheap - Prove it to us that you are not the biggest waste of a #1 pick in the BB era

1) What are you calling sudden resurgence? He has been good whenever healthy?
2) Why would you insist on calling him a name like Maphony? Does it make you feel better. I'd love to know what you do for a living and watch you for a few days and rip you to shreds over every imperfection in your performance.
3) I don't see where he is trying to replace playing with talking.
Basically every word of your post is ignorant.
Saying Maroney is injury prone is different than calling him a *****. So what if I never played football, I don't need experience to tell me a guy whos always injured can't play in the NFL.
I'm glad Maroney is confident, but after dragging ass half of 07 than being out all of 08, I can question if he's durable enough to have a future here. I heard nothing about him being unhealthy during the start of the year when he was running ******ed (and not in a good way) He can say whatever he wants, but he better prove it or lose it this year.
I don't think I need experience to say if he's injured yet again this year he's probably toast in NE.
(P.S. I am waiting for the 4.4. APC Maroney fan club to come bashing this response)
Why bother when you're already clowning yourself on the subject?
I said it once and I will say it again,If Maroney were a Jet ect: we would be laughing at that particular team for taking a bust in round 1,No one is kidding anyone here ... end of story.
I don't think anyone's questioning his toughness, and those questioning his ability are fools, but we can question his ability to stay on the field - he needs to prove he can.
Don't say that word,I guess you didn't read a thread from yesterday - It makes Andy J. Mad

No one around here like that, right?
>>>right because averaging 4.4 per carry is irrelevant to how he has played right? Patsfaninpa has decreed that he dances and that overrides the actual results, doesnt it. Ignorant.1) other than maybe 2 decent games when he was healthy (which is as rare as uncooked steak) when did he have games where he dominated?
>>>he hasnt dominated, he hasnt been asked to. He was the #1 rb on the highest scoring offense in nfl history. His production when healthy has been good. If you are expecting walter payton, you could be disappointed. Disappointed and insulting the man as maphoney are 2 different things.
2) i own my own business for 7 years now and don't answer to anyone and i can slack off on my computer all day like right now with no one to evaluate me and yet make money at the same time, maroney is going to be evaluated until he performs up to what he is getting paid for.
>>>>that explains a lot about your out of touch attitude
3) i have seen people talk big about quitting their bad habits and making their lives better and a year or two later and they are still the same - similar with maphony which is likely that he will end up on the annual ir list by october leaving taylor and morris to pick up the slack which is usual when you are a rb teammate of #39
>>>>maroney was interviewed and said he is healthy and takes people doubting him as motiviation. That has nothing to do with what you are talking about. Maroney doesnt have bad habits or a life he needs to make better, he has had bad luck with injuries.
Apparently you feel he should apologize to you for his injuries. Just to understand though, you feel he should be ashamed of his shoulder injury for what reason?
Listen - this talk about keeping hopes up on a player who has done little except for a few games and ends up injured annually is a bit annoying - if maroney was a jet, colt, dolphin or bill ect: You would all be laughing here and calling him a big bust (see vernon gholston bashers already based on a poor rookie season but hes a jet so its alright ) -
>>>he has not 'done little'. He was very effective splitting the job as a rookie. Was the #1 rb on the highest scoring off in nfl history in year 2 and had an unfortunate injury in year 3. To compare him to gholston who couldnt earn playing time is ignorant.
Its beyond pathetic with some of you guys holding your breath every year with this guy - why not just call his 'bust buddy' from 2006
chad jackson back so guys like you can hold your hopes up for 2 guys instead of just one
>>>what does jackson have to do with maroney? I'm not holding my breath. I got an excellent rookie year, a very good 2nd year and an innjured third year. Im ok with that from a 1st round pick. So is bb.
Not picking jones-drew was a mistake that draft year imo,but who knew?
>>>why? Maroney is a better rb.
Bottom line is its time for maphony to stop the 3 second dancing in the backfield and prove he is not a worthless roster spot. - put up or shut up time for #39
>>>>if your opinion of maroney were accurate you wouldnt have to resort to calling him a name to try to help your lame argument
