Vs decent defenses? Don't know if any can. However if the Pats can sustain this pace w/o Edelman/Dion... well that just adds to the legend of TB12 and BB.
Remains to be seen though.
Luckily, we have excellent coaches (Belichick and McDaniels, specifically) and a future HOF quarterback who has dealt with these types of losses before, so I'm sure they are hard at work getting as creative as possible. Personally, I'm guessing that they'll attempt to weather the storm while #11 is out via a combination of ways:
1) More emphasis on the running game, which is the norm for post-Thanksgiving football on a Belichick coached team as it is.
2) Amendola---let's remember that he was initially brought here to replace Wes Welker, and he started off his Patriots career with a bang until getting injured. He had 7 catches in the first quarter alone during his preseason debut, and then went on to notch double digit receptions in week #1 of the regular season.
It was actually Amendola's groin injury that allowed Julian Edelman to earn additional reps and carve his niche, and eventually he took over the role, but let's not forget that Amendola does have plenty of experience in the short passing game. I doubt that we see a 100 percent smooth transition, but if Amendola gives us 80 percent of what Edelman did we'll be just fine. I'm expecting about 70 percent, but I also think Belichick and Brady will do other things to combat the injury.
3) More focus on the TEs. We all know what Scott Chandler can do, and he's a nice red zone target to have, but they still haven't gotten him going as much as they're capable of thus far. Having Chandler and Gronk in on more 2 and 3 TE sets allows the option of both run and pass, and provides more versatility.
4) Brandon LaFell? Hello...the guy was one of the more clutch receivers in the postseason last season, and caught 75 balls in our system in 2014.
