I see what you're saying. Berman could've made it clear that he's totally pro-Brady and his ruling will give the NFL absolutely nothing, so they should take what Brady's offering (which happens to be what is current precedent for non-cooperation with a cell phone - $50k).

That is what I think. The NFLs case was weak before Berman publicly trashed it.

If the NFL sensed they were going to lose, why wouldnt they at least try to get something out of TB which would at least show that he had to have done something to earn the punishment.

NFL will take a chance on possible loss in court so they can appeal again instead of a 50k settlement.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner. Why in the world would they settle after all of this? As you said, they've still got a magic bullet in the chamber when it comes to the appeal process. There's no way in hell they are going to fold like a cheap lawn chair at this stage in the game.

So, he's basically just SoV all over again? Describing him as "Pro Brady" doesn't do it justice. Everyone with half a brain knew that there was going to be a suspension, not a 25k dollar fine, and suggesting strong punishments for the Colts as well (like it was ever about them or anyone else) is just whacky.
