There was a commotion when Brady was seen wearing a Yankees cap and someone talked about him wearing a Giants cap as well and I am sure other Patriots players and coaches doing the same thing as a fan of another sport and a team outside of the New England states - Even Belichick was seen in a pic a year ago wearing a St. Louis Cardinals cap when hanging out with his buddy LaRussa.

With that being said,Does it bother you when you see a Patriots player or coach wearing a cap or shirt of another team in another sport out of state?

I remember people telling me since I am born and raised in PA that I should be a fan of the Steelers,Eagles,Penguins ect: and I telll them all PA teams suck and they say to me if you don't like them maybe you should move to New England since you are a Pats and Celtics fan,Of course I tell them to F-Off.

Does it bother you and do you think a Patriots player should embrace the other sports local teams and never a rival team or in another area of the country?

It doesn't bother me unless it's a rival team of a team that I root for. Case in point: I could care less about Brady wearing a Giants hat because I do not root for the Dodgers. I root for the Red Sox. So it kind of bothered me when Brady was walking around with a Yankee hat because he is now pretty much the face of Boston sports. I do understand where he might have been coming from though. The guy lives in NY: home of the Jets. He's got to back them off somehow!

It bothers me a little when I see Brady in a NYY hat...but only a little.

With Tom, I think that was more about blending in than supporting the Evil Empire.

But really, all I care about is that Tom wins games. What he wears on his head, who he bangs and whether he likes sushi are not relevant to me.

    It doesn't and it shouldn't.

Few if any of the Pats players grew up in the area. Why would you expect them to be fans of the local baseball and basketball teams?

    Nope. Not at all.

We are lucky to have Brady in New England. It's not his hometown and it's not where he grew up rooting for the teams he loved. I think it's ridiculus to ask someone to become a fan of all the professional sports teams from the area that they currently play in - and that goes for any player not just Brady. But let's be real, we are talking about Brady here becasuse he's our Future Hall of Famer and the face of the Franchise, but again I don't care what teams he roots for - as long as he NEVER wears the hat (or Helmet) of ANY other NFL team.

Someday it would not surprise me if Brady did what Joe Montana did and that was to finish off his career with another team in his last year or two.

And I would expect if it did happen that it would be with his hometown hero 49ers which Tom was a major fan of when he was growing up,

In fact it would make a nice career ending story, even though we would miss him here, but if say he was 40 at that time I don't think he will be a shadow of what he is now anyway.

The thing with Brady and the Yankee's hat was (1) its the Yankees and (2) he ain't from NY. Him wearing a SF Giants hat on the other hand is him rooting for his home team.

I was rooting against the 49rs all season long, but if he was hoping they get the 31st pick in the draft that is fine by me. He can root for the 49rs to win 15 games this season if he wants. There is one he needs to make sure they lose.

Vinnie T. mentioned in an interview during the season he played back up for us that when he retires from football he would be a Jets fan, b/c he grew up one, spend most of his time there, and lives in NJ, but while he was part of the Pats he was going to do what he could to help the team he was on. I didn't have a problem with that either.

I think Tom Brady could kick my dog and I'd still be madly in love with him.

I'm a homer, but if he kicks my dog....we're fighting. He's most likely winning, but I'm swinging no matter what.

Re: Does a Patriots player being a fan of another sports team out of state bother you

Who cares? Really? Brady is a 49ers fan. That bothers me more than what baseball or basketball team he might root for.

Fact of the matter is most NFL players grew up in different areas of the country than the area of the team they play for. Most have fan allegences to other teams in other states than the one they are playing in now.

Let me turn around the argument. Say you got a job in New York, would you stop outwardly being a Patriots fan because all your superiors and clients were Jets fans (granted how can you be superior to anyone and be a Jets fan)?

Re: Does a Patriots player being a fan of another sports team out of state bother you

Maybe, but I don't remember Montana being as canonized back then as Tommy is today - Which would make a departure that much more difficult for Kraft to weather.

Not to mention that I think that the final Kraft/Brady financial outcome will be a % of the organization that Brady helped build.

In my area we used to have a Philadelphia Phillies Minor League team called the Red Barons - 2 Years ago the Red Barons moved up to Maine

My area then replaced the Phillies Red Barons club with the Yankees minor league squad who plays in that very same stadium - Many of the fans of the Red Barons became Yankees minor league fans immediately - That shows you of the allegience of some fans and how they think :bricks:

Nope not at all. Just as long as they come to play and win I could careless what other teams they like. If they like the home team all the better.

Root - root -root for the home team, if they don't win it's a shame.

I am much more quick to switch allegiances of a minor league team than the pros. I moved to Lansing, Michigan from Providence RI, and overnight I went from being a Pawsoxs fan to a Lugnuts fan. But I didn't become a Pistons, Lions or Tigers fan.

What's weird is that I'd be fighting Brady because Brady kicked "Brady" LOL
