Official announcement is expected sometime over the weekend. NFL simply has no "proof" the Patriots themselves tampered with the balls.

BREAKING -
Our source has CONFIRMED there will be NO penalties imposed on the Patriots by the NFL in the wake of deflategate.
So yes, they did say that the official announcement of no penalties would come that weekend. That's unarguable. It's right there.
On January 20th, Troy Vincent said that the investigation would be complete in 2-3 days. On January 23rd, the morning after SoV's tweets, it was announced Ted Wells had been hired by the NFL.
The most logical explanation is SoV has no inside source, that they simply were going off the most recent information they had - which is Troy Vincent announcing two days prior the investigation would end imminently.
That's my point exactly. No one here has any inside sources of information. They are simply using their noggin. Maybe SoV is too, and good for them, but unlike the posters here, they are not intimating that they have inside information into the investigation. And unlike SoV, they aren't plagiarizing actual journalist's work and trying to ride the credit to their own.
To me, four instances of re-packaging Schefter, Curran or PFT's information as their break undermines their credibility more than anything. Patsfans posters, Jerry Thornton, the Barstool guy, they will all cite the information they have, and in each case, it was one usually either Schefter or Curran. They don't says "sources say..." or ambiguously say "remember the name Kensil...[because Tom E Curran wrote an article about him a few hours ago, but we won't link you to that, why bother!!]
