That could have been a real confidence booster but he overthrew him badly. He needs to make plays like that when they are there. That's the biggest issue I had with Brady's play. Manning's wobbly ducks always seemed to connect, Brady's passes always seems to be three or four yards too long.
Only in New England are the fans complaining that their QB took them to the playoffs 8 times in 8 seasons, the AFC championship 5 times, and the SB twice.
Yeah, I can't wait to replace this guy and we can finally get over the hump.
Has anyone noticed how Brady's playoff performance has declined since his SB years? He has rarely come up in the clutch for us since 2005. Is he getting a free pass now because of those 4 early years?
2005- Throws near pick 6 and loses vs Denver
2006- Throws 3 picks vs Chargers and gets baiiled out. Loses 18 point halftime lead and throws pick to end the game
2007- Mediocre game vs Chargers. Only puts up 14 vs an average Giants defense despite having the record for most points scored ever.
2009- Lays an egg vs Baltimore at home
2010- Repeats the previous years performance vs the Jets at home
2011- Only puts up 17 points vs Giants and throws a critical 4th quarter INT
2012- Awful game vs Baltimore
2013- Gets outplayed by Manning and misses crucial deep balls to open receivers
The offense averaged 17.8 PPG in those 8 losses.
The apologists have been exception this go around
1)"Brady throws to a spot and it is up to the WR to get to the spot"
2)"Rarified air" neutralized the GOAT....or......"spiral too tight for altitude games"
3)"Brady didn't lock onto Edelman this year, or Welker last year, he can only use the assets he has"
4)"He can't catch his own passes"
5)"The hand"

Peyton missed several wide open receivers as well. He missed a wide open Decker in the end zone, missed D Thomas downfield. The difference is that Peyton can go back to those WRs over and over again. When Tom Brady's bomb to Slater was right on target early in the game, Slater couldn't come down with it. Does anyone doubt that D Thomas would have?
That's the difference between the two QBs yesterday.
Why can't you honestly critique Brady's performance??
We don't "expect otherworldy performances every year" from Tom Brady.
What we do expect is for this player, who is touted as the best of all time by many, we expect him to be able to make a throw to an open receiver when the play is there. There were open receivers and plays to be made and the HOF QB did not get it done yesterday. This has been a recurring playoff theme with Brady for years now. Just be honest. So tired of the blind cheerleading for TB. Sadly Tom's past reputation can't carry this team.
You left out all his good games. Like you were focused only on the bad. What about Denver in 2012? In the Giants Super Bowl, Brady threw 21 consecutive completions and tied an NFL record. To say he played badly in that game is not realistic at all.
Calling him out against the Colts in 2006-7? Oh my God??!! He threw a pick to end the game?
You can't be serious here. He had no timeouts and had to score a TD in a less than a minute.
I refuse to take this post seriously.

But they don't always connect. It just seems that way. Because Peyton had a million first downs and never punted. That's the point. Peyton has a lot of overthrows as well, and he had several yesterday. But unlike Brady, his attempts don't end with the one blown chance.
Brady missed a couple key throws.
No receiver besides Edelman did much.
The running game did nothing.
The offensive line got dominated.
The defensive line got no pressure.
The secondary got picked apart.
The linebackers didn't make plays.
The pass to Slater was inaccurate. Slater had inside leverage and Brady threw it the only place the defender could reach it. Lots of room inside where Slater would have been the only one with a chance. Deep shots to Slater, Edelman, and Collie, were all bad throws.
Brady did throw two bad passes that likely left 10 points off the board (assuming the receivers somehow got to where they were supposed to be on the throws and didn't slow down on the routes). He played satisfactorily (didn't turn the ball over), but not to the level I believe he is capable.
I wondered during the game if he was still sick to some degree. He just seemed a little off in his play and his demeanor. Not awful, just not TB at his best.
I know, I can actually recall a few times Peyton was off the mark too, but he usually connected the next time. But some of those passes! Wobbling, meandering through the air. And caught by his guy. Unbelievable.
You're right about those passes. The ones to Welker were unbelievable. Brady connected downfield over the middle several times, but again, when you have a powerful offense, you don't have to worry about missing those passes. You're going to get a chance to do it over and over and over.
This is posed to Pats fans, not specially you Bellachick, but does anyone remember how potent last year's offense was? Brady could do no wrong. I bet if we rewound, we'd see a QB missing several times a game, but by virtue of the offense's power, he looked invincible, better than he ever has.
Too many Patriot fans seem to forget the fact that last year's offense was the 4th best offense in NFL history.

That's my criticism of Brady in context, do you disagree?
