He'd just hold out again, and get an automatic 20% raise not to play.
and the Pats get a GREAT reputation for doing that

i wouldn't mind that except that we would still have to pay him for each game.
So now we have to have this guy on the team with his crap attitude for the whole year. So he can just be a cancer to the team this year and a) get cut or b) get paid. It's win-win for him.

not if we break his legs.
I think that in the locker room he will be fine. The players seem to like him and he doesn't have any history of poor conduct.
So who's better: you or Champ Bailey?
[Laughs] You know me, I think I'm better hands down...I think I'm the best out there. My play speaks for itself.
If he's a cancer on teh team...couldn't the team suspend him?? I wonder..So now we have to have this guy on the team with his crap attitude for the whole year. So he can just be a cancer to the team this year and a) get cut or b) get paid. It's win-win for him.

See I could care less if a greedy punk only makes 8 million a year. I root for the laundry. The bitterness here is funny. People pretend they understand "the business", but we fans aren't analysts, we're invested in the team doing the best it can and we don't care what these athletes make. I hope Asante comes back, but best of luck to him either way.

Well he really isn't. He's played himself to the point that he can negotiate with other teams but not to the point of signing a contract with the 2 first round pick compensation. He might think he's a free agent . . . but he's not.The guy's a free agent.
Agreed. I was just pointing out the fact that he'd played out his contract fair and square... and he really isn't obligated to anyone right now. The franchise tag is just a restriction regarding his free-agency.Well he really isn't. My favorite part was when he said he was better than Champ Bailey
