Asante Samuel Interview

He really didn't say much about what was being done that he plans to stick by his words and hold out it was mostly double talk.

My favorite part was when he said he was better than Champ Bailey

Doesn't bother me at all because some people don't understand the business side of it. They don't understand what I'm really going through. They see the money I'm supposed to be getting and say, "Wow, that's a lot of money." But they don't know I could have went out and got three to four times that. They just don't understand that.

This one caught my attention.

Good to see hes not out on the street, looks like its tough for him with that rookie minimum hes been living off for 4 years.

The bitterness here is funny. People pretend they understand "the business", but we fans aren't analysts, we're invested in the team doing the best it can and we don't care what these athletes make. I hope Asante comes back, but best of luck to him either way.

sitting at home watching his son play football, i wouldnt call that a smart family man, especially if he could go to work and make 8 million for his family, let him sit, we have depth, if he wants to come in for the playoff push great , we can then use the 5 million for cap space this year and next

It's like when people go on strike. They're standing up for what they feel is right. ..Comparing what he is doing to people on strike??? VERY poor analogy...His other statement about 3-4 times that is really typical... and teh interviewee??? She was on EWSPN this afteroon complaining about the Frabchise tag..frankly she s*** as an interviewer..and as far as her opinion goes..she's totally pitiful...I haye Bayliss and he was right on this...which is unusual. I don't think we Asanate for awhile...and when he returns he's irrelevent..

In the end, I don't see him sitting out all 10 weeks or whatever. It still hasn't hit the point of Deion Branch or Ty Law a few years back.

Not much of an interview - much more a fluff reality TV spend time with Asante piece.

I do find it funny that for about 8 months people have been ripping Samuel based on his "get paid" tatoo which is actually a music lyric and doesn't even say "get paid."

I just watched the video and it was completely ridiculous. Granted I didn't expect much, but this was bad. Jemele Hill doesn't know anything about football and should not even be considered a professional. Also, Asante your tatoo, the you claim is from the song "Get Rich To This." Yeah, that was by the Goodie Mob, not Gnarlz Barkley. The guy from the Goodie Mob is in Gnarlz Barkley, but you'd think he'd get his facts straight before getting it permanently on his arm. What a tool.

I'll just say this - continuing public rhetoric that he's prepared to sit out til game 10 is wise if one is trying to forge an agreement behind the scenes whereby the team won't franchise him next season.

Saying he's going to report to camp and not hold out is NOT the way to achieve that goal.

So I don't find that he's continuing with the rhetoric all that troubling.

If he makes it a public demand - a quid pro quo - that the only way he's going to report to camp is if the team doesn't franchise him in 2008, he can say goodby to any chance of that happening.

The team won't be bullied in negotiations like that and wouldn't be able to give in.

If he holds out, keep him on the inactive list for the rest of the season - if at all sensible, depending on how the secondary is playing - and then tag him again. Sorry, Asante. You had your shot. It's "example" time. Douchebag.

He didn't say he's better, he said he's better hands down. I mean, I get that it's all trash-talk silliness, to some degree, but good Lord.

i wouldn't mind that except that we would still have to pay him for each game.

not only that, but when he was asked the question, he laughed. oooh the arrogance.
but seriously, i guess cornerbacks have to have a big ego, just like wide receivers (they both want the ball thrown their way).

He'd just hold out again, and get an automatic 20% raise not to play.
