    Pretty exciting offseason so far.

Crumpler knows by now that he is going to have some competition! :D

I think that Crumpler is excited to be working with someone the Caliber of Brady.. He's always been a leader.. And I think he knows that the Pats are expecting big things from him..

I think if Gronk pans out, this could be our best blocking TE duo in a while. Definitely would help out on those 3rd/4th and short situations.

They both have soft hands and so does Hernandez...hopefully they are catching a ton of balls too!

No doubt. They have the potential (far from realized at this point) to be a very diverse group.

No idea why but this just cracked me up. Soft hands and tons of balls!!

Anyways I was excited when Crumpler signed even as a blocker. I'm even more excited now that he has trimmed the fat.

Maybe Alge and Rex Ryan had a bet on who would lose the most weight by Training camp :)

Seriously though,Any signs of Alge from his earlier days when he was just as dangerous as a receiving TE as he was a blocker and we won't have to worry about the lower depth of the receiving corps.

Saw this earlier good for him if he doesn't want to be cut he should be in shape, not sure about quicker considering I don't see him running many routes but that's your take I suppose :)

This is awesome. We we're so bad at TE and now if Crumpler pulled off this Biggest Loser treatment he could revert back to the Falcon Crumpler.

We could have 3 great TEs! Hopefully this helps Maroney and Co.

The trainors comments about dented helmets was cool.

Lets sign the trainor up to be an OLB and he can dent QBs helmets....oh whats that you need skill to pull it off...oh nevermind than.

    Disable Jersey

I think that it would be very good for Mr. Crumpler's career if the Patriots were to see less of him during the OTAs and beyond.

I'd suspect this was a condition of his signing... we don't need him to be a speedster pass catching threat but his weight was likely going to be a detriment to his blocking.

I'm thinking Crumpler will get plenty of reps if the WR squad remains as is - this might FINALLY be the year when we see a well utilized dual TE setup - and if defenses are not looking to Crumpler as the "pass catching TE" and only a blocker that could free him up to catch some key passes - not a lot of passes - but important ones.

TE factoid: Crumpler, Gronkowski and Hernandez together will earn the same $$ that Ben Watson is getting from Cleveland.

Yeah - I think Holmgren must have been drunk that day... so does Felger

Felger: Watson never caught on with Patriots

That being said I think Watson is going to get a TON of passes thrown his way during the season as a QB under pressure will be looking to dump some short passes.

So he may put up some decent numbers a la Reche Caldwell but he'll drop plenty too.

Careful... "value" can be a taboo subject in some circles... ;)

Literally all you need to know about the TE situation. i don't think anyone on this board would take the latter in that scenario.

    No Jersey Selected

All we really need Crumpler to do is to sneak away get open five to ten yards downfield from the LOS from time to time, which shouldn't be a problem considering that he's our blocking TE. Good to hear that he's trimming up though.

Exactly. Though it wouldn't surprise me if he winds up being the most open guy in a goal line situation... he's got the soft hands to make the catch in those situations and the brawn to carry a guy or two over the goal line with him.
