a 5th for Seward?

Anyone who thinks that the Patriots shouldn't give up a 5th round pick if Belichick considers Seward a guy who can help the team - even as depth and as an S/T ace - doesn't really understand football or the NFL draft. It's a no-brainer.

Maybe the Pats are simply trying to arrange a trade for Seward.

Poison pills don't seem to be in style any longer.

Or it may be that they're trying to decide how much they're willing to offer--on the one hand, they don't want to outbid themselves, so to speak, but on the other hand, you only get one chance to put an offer sheet in front of another team; if Carolina decides to match, then the Pats can't get him.

Eric Alexander couldn't cover my grandma.
Agreed! Very weak in coverage. Why no word on A. Wilson? He's healed and can cover and is a tackling machine.

He sound like Eric Alexander to me, and we already have him, no?

Not exactly, but unless you're a psychic, I refuse to consider this logic serious.

FYI...

Eric Alexander was a 223-lb UDFA coming out of college. He started only one season at OLB as a collegian, playing primarily on special teams until his senior year. He recorded 74 college tackles.

Adam Seward was a 248-lb 5th-round draft pick. He started from the middle of his redshirt freshman season onward, briefly at OLB then the rest of the time inside. He entered the draft as the Mountain West Conference's all-time tackle leader with 433 tackles.

Odd comparison, IMO.

Seward is far from a sure thing, but if his health checks out he seems like a natural Pats-style prospect at a presumably modest price.

Eric Alexander is about to begin his fifth training camp. It's

about time for the Pats to put him out to pasture. Seward

is a good special teams player and might be a decent backup

at ILB.
