Except for the fact that someone very reliable is reporting they are close to a deal.OK everybody calm down. Absolutley nothing has changed.
This is terrible! If this happens, the Chicken Littles will be down to linebacker and cornerback as positions to panic needlessly about.
Apparently, it was just stated on WEEI that the deal is done. Sorry, no link.

The only one who said they were not close was the ESPN village idiot, Cryptkeeper Clayton. All the other reports were just reporting that ESPN reported that. (He probably got a hot tip from a secret source - Sean Salisbury!)By the way, check out rotoworld as they have updated their site to confirm what Schefter said. I'm definitely not making this one up to those who are skeptical.
Actually, to make it easier, I'll just quote what they had to say on this issue:
NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the Patriots are close to re-signing free agent Randy Moss.
Schefter says the Patriots have a "standing multi-year offer to make Moss one of the highest paid receivers in the NFL." Schefter is almost never wrong, but we keep hearing Moss and the Pats are close and wouldn't count out another team like the Rams, Redskins, or Eagles making a last minute run at him.
