DRAFT 2024 2nd Round Pick - WR Ja'Lynn Polk

LOL. AP beat me to the post. We were thinking the same thing.

OK. So instead here's a Polk highlight reel. Judge for yourself.

I think he projects as a #2 receiver. More of a Z than an X but hey he played a pretty good second fiddle to Rome Odunze and the stat I'm hearing is about 45 of his receptions went for a 1st down, so he might fill the 'move the chains' role on 3rd down.

.....why would a highlight reel convince me of anything? It's the very definition of misleading:) I could put together a Mac Jones highlight reel, too. Would you guys love him then?

Mac’s highlights were always unimpressive to me. Just a bunch of open TD passes to superstar receivers.

How do the words "Judge for yourself" come across I'm trying to convince you of anything.

"Judge for yourself" means, draw your own conclusions.

All the highlight reel did is give you video footage of what he has done at the college levels.

Feel free to disagree with the opinion that he looks more like a #2 WR/Z type WR to me than a WR1/X.

If you have a different conclusion, state it clearly instead of acting offended. This is a discussion forum, we're here to share information and discuss football.

The initial N’Keal comps were just lazy. Nowhere near the same player.

The more I watch him. I see some Jakobi Meyers elements. I’m also seeing some Malcolm Mitchell. (Who would have been a hell of a receiver if not for the injuries)

He just seems like he knows how to play the receiver position. Very saavy.

This guy may never quite be the number 1 receiver you’d want. But I don’t think he’ll bust.

Do remember GB’s offense thrived last year without a true number 1. I think having a dearth of “good receivers can be just as effective if you’re deep enough. Polk/Douglas/Bourne/Obsborn could easily wind up being an effective deep group of weapons.

GB has a much better receiving core, especially at the top of the depth chart and I don’t think it’s relatively close.

Interesting conversation about ranking the top 30 WRs in the 2024 NFL draft.

One guy liked Polk more than the other, ranking him all the way up to 6th in this class and the reason why - his NFL comp is Chris Godwin.

Check it out here:

Another interesting note is that the #5/6 guy on both of those guys boards - Troy Franklin is still available in the draft. Interesting stuff to ponder heading into Day 3.

Crap, I hate this pick. Two round reach and he's a slow contested catch specialist (i.e. N'Keal Harry)
I disagree here. 1 round reach which is tough to argue over. I had a solid 3rd, we had a solid 2nd. I'm not seeing a huge reach. If anything Wallace was a much bigger reach imo. I had him as a late round pick. No real experience at any other position besides RT. That's a decent reach imo.

Polk shined and produced 1K/10 TD with a legit top 10 and 75 pick beside him.
Tough blocker that made several noticeable quality blocks for his boys at UW. Coaches he's love him bc of his attitude and effort. Very intelligent prospect imo. Very coachable. Some of the best hands in the class. Very comfortable making circus catches look easy. Lots of confidence there.
Our slot & z really overlap, you need to be avl to do both and thats exactly what he does. Move around based on the defense and play to his strengths. He's not extremely well rounded but what he does he does very well.

We absolutely still need a true #1 but Polk has the chance to be a quality/rotation - WR3. Possibly low-end WR2 some years if he hits his ceiling. I don't hate this pick and again Wallace needs to workout. Wolf took a big swing there.

I haven't done a deep dive on him but like it's being reported now, I've heard he gives off Puca Nacua vibes.

I'm in. Keep cookin' Wolf.
Ok then welcome to my fantasy football team

Mac had highlights? Hmm didn’t know that!!! Jk good point

The *****ing's ridiculous.

Fans: we need a WR.
Pats pick a receiver in R2.
Fans: NO NOT THAT GUY.

Seems like a solid wr, something the patriots lack. Not flashy
