Breer leaving the Dark Side

What a hilarious article.

Brave little Bert Breer was pulled off the Patriots beat by his employers, the NFL (who are, as we all know, in the Patriots' pockets) just because he was doing his job and "challenging" them.

Anyway, watch out! He's back and this time it's serious!

Well, it's interesting. When thinking about NFL's coverage of deflategate, they didn't really try to be objective. But, they weren't as bad as ESPN (who continue to this day to promote false information) or the broadcast networks (who were afraid to report it). Ian Rappaport was the first to report that the balls were not 2 PSI low (he did it the weekend before the Super Bowl).

No big revelation here but Breer should have stayed quiet. You don't really want the rep of bashing your fmr employer in a very public industry on your way out the door.

Doesn't sound like he's going to be writing any blazing stories about the inner workings of the NFL. Looks like he is walking on eggshells.

I’m glad I found a really, really, really good place to go and hopefully we can do some real good stories there.”

Over the last year-and-a-half, I don’t think that’s any secret. . . . I don’t think they can stop me now. I don’t know.”

Albert Breer, everyone's favorite Lincoln-Sudbury born trust fund baby...

He's claiming the league transferred him off the Patriots beat to protect the Patriots??? WTF???
That's how he would see it... In reality, someone somewhere in the NFL HQ likely just barely had a high enough IQ to realize that Breer's questions to Belichick were idiotic and making NFLN look stupid, so they moved him.

If Breer actually produces insightful work at MMQB, I'll be surprised.

Two things stood out to me in that article:

Breer claimed he was pulled off the Patriots beat and had to travel more as a result. I recall tweets from him claiming he covered the entire league, not just one team, so was he ever exclusively on the Patriots beat? If not, then travel would be part of his job.

Breer talked about challenging people in press conferences. Outside of the "on to Cincinnati" PC, can anyone remember an instance where Breer challenged a coach? I can't think of an example where Breer can point to and say "I didn't accept Coach X's answer about Situation Y, and when I pressed him he admitted he had a problem with Player/GM/Opposing Coach Z."

Enough.

Albert Breer is a solid, gutsy reporter and a good judge of what we see on the field. He asks the questions that need to be asked.

I'm thrilled that he chose MMQB over NFL.com

Albert Breer's decision to move on is proof that the hard work that so many here have done to reflect the NFL's greed and appetite for power is working,

Say what?

Breer was the dark side when he covered the Patriot's for the NFL network. The dumb-ass tried to be tough hard nosed reporter against BB during the deflategate. It didn't work, so screw him.

Actually, when I think on it more, the reason he was "pulled off the Patriots beat" was probably just because Belichick hates him, and has hated him for some time. The management at NFLN probably realized that Breer was never going to get a scoop or even an actual real answer on anything out of Belichick, so they put him on projects where the people he would interview didn't necessarily regard him as a complete idiot.

Hey guys, I just found Albert Breer's mom's account.
