A serious upgrade from past year's Jake Bequette at TE, no?

Woah woah woah! Pump those breaks a little big guy. I mean Better than Gronk? Well i would disagree but i could see that. But Jake Bequette? I think you need a break from this forum for asking such a silly question.

Gronk calls Bequette up to ask if he can hold his jock for him.

They really need to get another RB to take advantage, though. Even if they just signed Blount again, that would be a good start. I'm still holding out hope for Jonathan Williams.

Love this move, idiot Bears fan on FB says the Pats go fleeced. The Pats could trade Tom Brady and a 1st for Blaine Gabbert and they still would end up winning, they don't get fleeced. Use the Jones 2nd to trade up and draft Will Fuller, run the greatest offense ever

Even if you don't want to be TE2 there is no shame being behind Gronk. IDK who could be mad about that. As long as he gets his snaps and looks which he will I think he should be happy.

This is what Bennett said about Gronk prior to our 2014 matchup against the Bears:

"The Gronk? I watch him all the time. He’s like the Terminator of tight ends. I enjoy watching him play. He’s just…like I say, he’s like the Terminator. … You look at Arnold Schwarzenegger, the way he moved in Terminators [he’s] similar to Gronk. He’s a hell of a player. He does a lot of great things. It’ll be fun to talk to him before the game. He’s a great guy."

I'm confused. Are you saying he should take a 1 year deal worth less per year? Because he definitely will not do that.

If it's guaranteed- YES. Hes either out of a job or getting paid by NE $2-$2.5m in guarantees with a chance to make maybe $4m in 2016. Maybe they make it a 2yr deal $8m w/ $4m in guarantees so they can spread out the cap hit. Lots of ways to get creative and show the player good will and try to be fair.

The big spenders are gone. The market has settled. This is the time teams get value and players need to work.

Sometimes I feel like BB reads this message board. He just traded Jones to the Cardinals and then traded for Bennett. WTF? If he cuts Cannon tomorrow I'll probably s*** a brick.

Ross, if he cuts Cannon or Kline, you can add me to the list of sh*** bricks :)

Anyone have any details on how he wore out his welcome in Chicago ? On the field he's certainly someone we'll love having.

I've got some general awareness of injuries, declining production, disgruntled attitude, potential locker room problem type issues

But playing for the Bears makes you "gruntled" at best, so if this guy is smart he gets right on the program, gets healthy, shows the right 'tude, wins a spot on the field and puts up good numbers while Gronk attracts the double teams

This guy isn't the best or brightest, but he's still 6'6" and that presents a very nice goal line target

If he plays his cards right he can cash in big time in free agency - he'd be a fool not to get with the program here

You think AJ Derby can flat beat out Bennett for the number 2 spot? That's optimistic thinking!
No I must have misread the post. I thought the post implied that Bennett was going to be TE3.

Where did you hear that?

I can't remember honestly. Could have been from a fan. Maybe Giants or Cowboys fan? Or maybe some reporter. It was a while back. I'm not talking about his blocking performance. I just heard he doesn't like doing it.

Cannon will be cut or take a reduced wage so make sure you are close to a ladies room!

A lot of guys dont like blocking. The Patriots tend to look for team first players and Bennett is really a me first player. That doesn't make him a bad player or a bad signing but he would rather be the guy making the play then setting it up. But as long as he gets paid and makes some plays and wins he will be happy i think.

Hopefully they will build a great connection in the locker room..something he wasn't great with in CHI but winning does solve A LOT of problems
