The only role Goodell deserves:

Though, 45 Million a year for Janitor is not too shabby.
And what messes has he cleaned up exactly?

More like: Goodell is the guy who keeps leaving the turds that won't flush.

We should keep in mind that this union has a partnership with ownership unlike most, in that both are joined at the hip around a singular primary goal of increasing total NFL revenue. This issue around discipline process is simply a family feud, a small skirmish in what is otherwise a tight business relationship. Both prosper, almost equally in cash terms, when NFL revenues go up. That's always going to be the most significant goal of the head of the NFLPA (Smith for now) and NFL Commissioner (Goodell for now).

In fact, getting us fans all up in arms about this, and believing that they are somehow sworn enemies, just plays into their hands of creating drama and interest in NFL football. I wouldn't be surprised at anything that goes on behind closed doors in terms of cooperation between the union and management.

The NFL should have an agreed upon board that handles discipline. People on the board should be representative of the league ... owners ... medical experts ... players union. Of course that would cost money ... the current system is too heavily leveraged towards the league office with tattle tale owners having backdoor whining input which is wrong.

A reasonable suggestion might be creating an independent organization similar to the "American Arbitration Association", that could be used any discipline that is contested that case would be referred to a group of neutral arbitrators. There are three names randomly chosen and each party gets to throw one out.

The remaining arbitrator hears and decides the case.. would remove the taint of "appearance of impropriety"....

Here's the new disciplinary procedure being carefully vetted by the NFL Management Council. I would say they take your concerns very, very seriously:

I take this to mean that the league wants to make his responsibilities more in line with his abilities. So does this make him the highest-paid mail room worker in the world?

Here's Fraudger on his first day at his new job...

The best movie almost no one has seen!

As far as Roger - isn't this a de facto admission by the owners that Goodell got it wrong on Brady?

I mean, if Kraft attempting to appease certain owners by giving up a draft pick in return for dropping Framegate is "proof" of the Patriots "guilt" - then isn't the notion of the Owners willingness to give up power an admission that Goodell has well overstepped boundaries of fairness and integrity?

I just watched the movie again last week. I couldn't get my wife to stay with it. Her loss.

I don't think it matters to the owners that Fraudger got something wrong. He usually does.
