Cut Harper, please.

I'm still hanging my head in shame in a less remote area of PA (WB/Scranton area) :(
Lol that's where I am too, quietly sobbing into a pillow.

As we could saw from game against the broncos, Harper played only 5 snaps, so he was just reserve if Laffel or Martin gone out.
This release means 2things
1. Danny is ok and ready for eagles, Harper to PS, cause he has potential
2. Harper isnt that good, no potential
We need another TE since Gronk is hurt

we ll see, but we have Asante cleveland already, and only 2 WRs

You know @PatsWickedPissah was just waiting to bust out the "Haaahpah" chant, and even worse, @Ross12 is still hiding out in a remote area of Pennsylvania, head hanging in complete shame and disappointment. Oh, what could have been

Denigrating this decade's Troy Brown to be...

JETS fan!!!

Harper should have had a red shirt year this year on the practice squad. It isn't his fault that with Amendola and Edelman down, he had to thrusted in the punt return role. The injury situation put him in a spot he shouldn't be in yet.

Agreed, the fact that Harper has now been cut doesn't make your point any less true. In addition to his contributing players, BB will keep a very few "developmental players" that may show promise but aren't ready yet, usually rookies or first year players. They are usually on the practice squad, sometimes BB keeps a couple at the back end of the active roster if they seem especially promising. Ideally those developmental players become contributing players by the end of the year. Last year Butler started out as a developmental player but certainly didn't end up that way. And, Bequette has stayed on the roster as a developmental player for many years (now on IR of course).

Harper should have been a developmental player, with, as you say, a rookie red shirt year. Injuries to Edelman, Amendola, Martin, and Dobson meant that Harper was the next man up. He showed that he isn't ready at this time for the "Big Show". Because of the large number of roster spots we have to devote to injured players that hopefully will return later, BB doesn't have much space at this time for developmental players, he needs players that can contribute now. In my mind it is as simple as that.

Looks like Harper wont return.

Wr Austin Hill signed to Ps per Reiss twitter.

Sorry no link.

I think we had 2 practice squad spots open. Anyone know if Harper was re-signed to the PS? Anyone??!

We currently have 9 on the PS so there's an opening. On the other hand we signed two WR today (1 to the 53, 1 to the PS). So I don't know.

I live in Clarks Summit, I work in Taylor. lol I am pretty close to ya!

Yeah for sure, I'm up in Dunmore twice a day as well, I probably drove by your work taking a combination of Keyser Ave, Oak St, and N Main on my way to Greenridge. Had time to kill instead of the usual boring trip on 81 lol.

Yep I work on North Main Ave lol

Any second now patriots fans will start crying in this thread because there binky chris Harper didn't get signed to the practice squad, and instead we signed a guy with much more upside in 6'3 210lb Austin Hill. He was a bilitnikoff finalist, but shhhh don't tell Harper fans that. They think wide receivers over 6'2 can't be successful in the patriots system

I'm with ya on that. Serious question though, Hill is healthy right? So he will get some looks by being on the practice squad? I'm guessing he is more of a project for next year

I think there's more to it than Harper's muffed punt. The fact he wasn't signed to the practice squad is very telling... I have a feeling something happened with him afterwards behind the scenes.

Yeah, muffing a punt isn't necessarily a death sentence. Matt Slater did it his rookie year. Where would we be if they had cut him for that?
