Could there be a MRSA outbreak at the Patriots (Speculation/Rumor)?

I have a friend who has a friend that knows a man who has a friend. And his friend thinks that maybe Collins was struck by lightning while riding on a roller coaster at six flags.

This thread is absurd.

MRSA happens when you have surgery.

When did Collins have surgery? He never did.

Not just surgery, though that's the most common way people get it -- as a skin infection that can go systemic. But there can be respiratory manifestations in certain strains that can cause pneumonia.

Hey, I know a man who has a friend, too. What an amazing coincidence! I hear he has MRSA.

I've had it for a week now starting last Friday and tomorrow will mark the first day where I can really begin working out again. It's not the flu, though. I had the flu last November and it crippled me. I've been able to go to work on this. Not sure I could have played in a 3+ hour professional football game or went to a padded practice, though.

Clearly what happened here is the Patriots were trying to develop a weapons grade strain of MRSA to unleash on the mighty Broncos, because that is the only way they stand a chance of defeating the omnipotent Peyton Manning. But it was accidentally released in their own locker room is now tearing through the team. Serves them right, lousy cheaters!

They should have went with anthrax spores in the pigskin.

damn...doug kyed did say yesterday that he strangely noticed that Jamie Collins' chair was missing from the locker room. Probably does have MRSA and has gone through with the amputation....

This whole timeline has been really instructive on how quickly the media will disseminate blatant rumor-mongering with absolutely no evidence. I don't know that we needed more evidence of this, but... here we have it.

Collins is missing again today. I can't see a flu keeping him out this long. Whether it is MRSA or something else, I can't see it being just a virus. I have never seen a player miss almost a week due to illness unless it was worse than the flu.

Of course that doesn't mean it is anything remotely as bad as MSRA. But I think it has to be worse than the flu or a virus.

Jeff Howe @jeffphowe
Collins' illness was described as a contagious type of bug Sunday. No one seemed concerned. Today, someone said, "I hope he's OK."

Would be helpful if Jeff Howe told us all in what capacity that "someone" is. Is it a player, a coach, or somebody eating lunch at Skipjacks?

And before the trade deadline some radio guys floated that they had heard a rumor about the Pats trading for JMac. It turned out that the rumor was actually the radio guy falling for a fake twitter account, and not bothering to even check the account to see if it was the real one.

I would guess this rumor has the same source, aka random twitter guy that makes stuff up.
That's not actually how that happened. The radio guy said he had it from people either close to the Pats or actually part of the organization that the team was trying to get the deal done and thought they would. The fake twitter thing happened later and lasted all of 15 seconds before they corrected it. I know because I happened to be listening at the exact moment it happened.

I tend to doubt that Brady had MRSA. He likely had a regular staph infection. In fact, at the time it happened, he said, "The infection is very treatable". I doubt he'd say that if it was MRSA. The "MR" part of MRSA stands for Methicillin-resistant, meaning the doctors have to find the right antibiotic to kill it. If they can't find the right antibiotic, it can even be fatal.
Yeah, if it actually had been MRSA, he'd be lucky to still /have/ a knee.
