ProJo's Reynolds: Pats so good, they're boring...

Plus if you are a fan that just looks at wins and loses, sure, games could be boring. But if you are looking to see which players stand out, make plays, over/under achieve etc, there is a lot more to watch than just the score.

Absolutely. As boring as the second half of the Redskins game was, in terms of "exciting, well played, game", it was able to hold my attention because I was focused on how that M*A*S*H* unit of an offensive line would hold up, and on how Brady would make sure it did just that.

Me and my brother were just talking about this the other the day. One of the downsides or negatives all be it a picky one, but knowing you are going to make the playoffs every year dulls the regular season quite a bit. Obviously chasing the bye, homefield advantage and the Manning games etc are the little things that help me overcome that a bit. But honestly I live for the post season for the most part these days.

And yes the Skins game was a boring game. If not for the injuries it would have been a forgetful game lacking any emotion.

During games, I have yet to have more than a fleeting thought that a loss was even possible, in any game we've played so far this year.

I don't call that boring. I call it gloriously stress-free!

Good point and I should have included that point in my post above as one of the things that help overcome the lack of "are they going to make the playoffs" excitement.

As an additional bonus we can also play the "How stupid/annoying/anti-Patriots" will the announcers be during the game. That is always entertaining regardless.

Very dangerous as a drinking game....

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm quite entertained by their winning ways.
You can speak for me. I was going to write the same thing. I love watching the Pats, whether they're up by 2 or 20. When they're down, I can't look away, no matter how painful (said pain usually having to do with whatever broadcast team we have complimenting the other team non-stop).

Kicking the **** out of any opponent and just humiliating them gives me a pup tent.

You mean on the Pats game threads here? Yeah, I stay away from those for the most part, except before and sometimes after. They're kind of like flypaper for douchebags. LOL

The people who act like idiots in the game day threads act like idiots in every thread. It's just more blatant in the game day thread.

I'm sure as a journalist it is frustrating, but as a fan the fact that the only thing I've had to stress about during our games is injuries and whether or not they'll cover is a refreshing and relaxing change of pace.

Reynolds: Patriots are so good, it's almost become boring

Hey, Bill, if you're bored by the Pats, by winning, by excellence, by overcoming adversity, maybe you need to write about something else.

Does the ProJo have a section on needlepoint? :D
Most media in this town does not deserve a winning franchise in any sport. They just like losing teams so they can constantly find happiness in killing the teams and players.

If winning is boring then that's fine by me. Mind you, I find nothing boring watching the Patriots dismantle opposing defenses or stifle opposing offenses.

Just replace all the "football" words in the article with "soccer".

I kid soccer peeps.

I prefer it when the Pats play poorly from week to week so we can all talk about how Brady is done, Belichick can't draft players and the Dynasty is over. That's MUCH more fun.

I enjoy the fact that every win, every dominant performance, crushes a bit more of Roger Goodell's non-existent soul. And that make me VERY happy.

Jaguars game was boring
Redskins game was boring

That's 2 out of the first 8. I don't see a problem there.

And it's not the Patriots who made those games boring, it was the opposition that came in with good players who were early draft picks in every round for years and seems to have no strategy for using that talent to compete with the Patriots.

Can you imagine if Belichick had a top five pick in every round for the past five or six years to work with? He'd select the smartest elite players on the board and make extraordinary trades to build his team. The Jaguars, in particular, have a roster full of excellent prospects, and a few good NFL players. That should be a better team. Some of that is the turnover in the coaching that barely has time to develop anybody.

On strategy, the Jaguars came in with everyone saying that their defense was a static cover 2 regardless of who they were playing. Are you kidding me? The genius with Belichick is that every week is a different opponent and a plan to attack their strengths and exploit their weaknesses. Even if you wind up losing, these teams should at least try to show the Patriots something new, take away a player or two to make it hard for Brady, or try exotic plays that confuse the Patriots' defense.

I obviously can't speak for anyone else, but the Pats winning never gets old and I can't get enough. I will admit, however, that I was bored at a certain point playing that joke of a team on Sunday . . . until Lewis got hurt and then I was just dejected.

I get his point, and having close games with end-of-regulation heroics makes for exciting television.

But then sometimes watching something execute perfectly has its own excitement. Nobody would want to hear Mozart performed with a bunch of mistakes and then have the orchestra just squeak out to the end, or even fail sometimes, for the sake of excitement.

And if all this predictable winning is boring, imagine how boring predictable losing is (looking at you Lions/Bills/Bucs/Raiders/Jags/Titans/Texans/Browns)
